In an interview back in 2010, Lebron said that Kobe having such a game was one of the major reasons he joined the Heat.

If Kobe had a decent shooting game, then Lebron to the Heat might have never happened. The NBA could have been so different. And all because of 6/24.

Shooting 6/24 with twice as many turnovers than assists is not. People always talk about Ray bailing LeBron out, well Kobe got bailed out big time in this game. Look how ridiculed this performance already is, if Kobe lost playing that way while losing Game 7 of the Finals at home, it'd have merit as one of the most infamous losses in league history.

Looking back, how the hell did the Spurs survive the Pistons in the 05 finals, with Duncan shooting 37% in game 7 (and 29% and 33% in games 3&4) . For an elite PF/C, that is rather dismal.

Looking back, how the hell did the Cavs push the celtics to 7 games, with Lebron shooting 8 for freaking 40 (20%) in games 1 and 2.

It's a crazy concept I know, but supporting casts can actually cover for their star player until said player actually wakes up.

Lol at this liar. If you truly watch the game you will know. He stat padded at least 10 of his rebounds. There was literally no threat as the Celtics that game did not crash the offensive boards. On each miss they went back on defense. Kobe screaming his lungs out at Gasol " I got it"

but in a game decided by REBOUNDs, kobe grabbed 15 of them and kept the defensive focus squarely on him, giving the others more room. Kobe also scored 10 points in the critical 4th quarter.

If you watched that game 7, it was a battle where Kobe was injured and facing one of the best team defenses in the Modern Era. Kobe was having a hard time scoring due to the reasons mentioned above but still was able to gut out a gritty performance getting 15 rebounds and playing incredible defense. His shot wasn't falling but he dug deep and found other ways to impact the game when his team needed him most and lead them to the win. Guess who had the best +/- on the Lakers for that game 7? Kobe Bryant (http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201006170LAL.html)

Do you think LeBron would be able to pull out a performance of that caliber? We all know LeBron has no mental toughness and as soon as his bread and butter offense stops working and he faces adversity he mentally checks out of the game and concedes. He has done it literally dozens of times and it is a large reason for the fact of "2 of 6".

Same could be said of Lebron's rebounds. So which is it, is Lebron a good rebounder or not? Is he stat padding because his teammates force him the rebound like how you claim Kobe's teammates were doing?

Choose one and be consistent, don't flip flop between players you hate and players you love to fill your agenda.

Yeah. The funniest part about it is that is LeBron's calling card, not Kobe's. :oldlol:

Even if his claim was true...how does it explain Kobe leading the Lakers in +/- for the game 7? If he was supposedly only bricking shots and stat padding rebounds it seems like it would be hard for him to be the most impacting player on the team.

ImKobe
04-06-2016, 03:52 PM
neither team was scoring efficiently...it was a battle on the boards and both teams playing hard on the defensive end...Kobe's shot was off (as was everyone else's) but he closed the game out just fine and they won the series...he had the 2nd best DRTG behind Artest in that game among all starters, Allen and Pierce shot a combined 8/29 while KG and Sheed shot 13/24

anyone saying he didn't deserve the MVP should check out his scoring the first 6 games

Ah yes, the typical "took x amount of shots to score y amount of points" argument.

You do realize free throws are ALSO shot attempts? A game where Kobe shot 15 free throws to LeBron's 2 free throws?

Kobe basically took one more shot + 13 more freethrows to score 8 more points, woohoo.

Great argument.

Getting out scored by a bench player while closing out the series, going 7-23 and not being able to draw any fouls while stat padding in garbage time. (His team had the game in the bag while he had 11 points.. ) Is better than being th leader scorer for your team, scoring 10 in the 4th (Lebron had 11 with the game in hand ) grabbing 15 rebounds and closing out the series with clutch free throws

The better question is...how did he manage to put up 29+/6/6/2/25 PER/33%USG/116 ORTG over the course of the entire post-season while playing on busted knee, wearing a giant splint on a broken finger on his shooting hand, AND dealing with a bone chip in his ankle? Incredible.

And he did this while playing with two slow, plodding 7-footers killing the spacing, another crappy shooter in Odom, and the worst offensive SF in basketball in Ron Artest? Unlike others...he's dominated even on teams with terrible spacing.

Kobe's "worst game ever" is still comparable to Gasol and Artest's best games of their career. So Kobe at his worst is still comparable to Gasol/Artest at their best. EVERYONE shot like sh*t that game. Because it was a grind it out defensive game.

Kobe: 23 PTS, 15 TRB on 25% FG, 11-15 FTs, elite defense on Ray Allen
Gasol: 19 PTS, 18 TRB on 38% FG
Artest: 20 PTS, 5 TRB, 5 STL on 39% FG

Paul Pierce: 33% FG
Ray Allen: 21% FG

And since everyone keeps sighting "dat dominant frontcourt".

Bynum: 2 PTS, 6 REBs on 20% FG, game-low -12 +/-
Odom: 7 PTS, 7 REBs on 38% FG

To cap it off, Kobe assisted/created the most memorable and crucial play of the game, drawing the defensive attention and passing it to Artest for the 3... BANG!!

Let's not forget that in this same series Lebron had games of 8-25 with 7 turnovers, 10-30 with 8 turnovers and 7-23 in the same series and his team still won..

Lebron stans seriously think that having 11 points while your team is up 20 is better than scoring 23 points while hitting game clinching shots/free throws.

Lebron scores 15 points on 31% TS and wins by 20, Kobe scores 23 points on 38% TS and barely wins the game.. who's team needed who more..?

Once, again Kobe took more 12 more FTs to score 8 points, good for him. LeBron obviously had a shitty scoring game so he decided to chip in by playing the facilitator role and put out 11 assists.

Once again, Lebron's team has never won a game with him shooting below 25%. While Kobe has 6 of those games alone.... In the same season

But hey, we're also comparing game 7 of the NBA finals to a game in the 2nd round.

Good for you for having tons of butt buddies to congratulate you on your "ether" I guess.

When a 37 year has played 43:10 mins (more minutes than all team mates except a 21 year old Leonard) and misses a bunny at the end of the game, then, yes, he gets a pass.

Compare that to a 31 year old Kobe and his 25%FG.

Duncan 24 pts 12 rebs 2 asst 4 stl 1 blk 44% FG 113 ORtg 97 DRtg

The Lakers were 5-0 in the regular season of 2010 when Kobe shot less than 25%.

You seriously can't make this shit up Team was stacked as ****.

As I said,

You're melting down, little boy.

Using a 5 game sample as your proof.

Kobe >>> Wade. Deal with it. And it has nothing to do with injuries or circumstances. Wade just wasn't as good. Deal with it little girl.

Kobe played one hell of a game. When he's shooting bad he'll destroy you with his defense, rebound, and hustle play. But in the 4th quarter he scored 10 points, which was huge. Clutch as fck!

That game 7 was one of the strangest games I've ever seen. There was so much on the line that the tension in the arena was palpable. I've never seen so many NBA players look so nervous in a game at the same time. Kobe was awful but nobody on else on the court was that much better.

You could clearly see the players thinking before making every move, nothing was instinctual, and nobody wanted to make a mistake. It just so happened that Kobe was the one taking the most shots, and in true Kobe fashion he did not care if he missed. The problem was Kobe was damned nervous himself.

Pau, World Peace and Rondo performed better than Kobe on that game.

It's a crazy concept I know, but supporting casts can actually cover for their star player until said player actually wakes up.

jesus christ
