That's pretty dogshit production for a guy on an $86 million contract. Good on him for not being a total scrub though, I guess.

How so? It's probably closer to 20-8-5 post Bosh-injury.
And it's not like he gets unlimited touches out there.

Those stats are nothing special. Are you mocking Dragic?

He's averaged 17/7/5 with a 19 PER since the all star break. Solid numbers. I've been very pleased with his improvement. I'm not sure I understand the last comment though. Dragic gets plenty of touches. He has the ball in his hands more than any player on the Heat. He's the PG and primary ball handler. Very few NBA players get "unlimited touches".

He'd be great as a spark coming off the bench in a blowout.

Dragic has been a HUGE part of pushing Miami's late season success.
If there was an all-star selection based on the second half of the season, Dragic would start in the east.
WOW.

Still pulls no shows when the game slows down against good defensive teams though.
Will likely affect his playoff production, where there are fewer fast break opportunities.

Yeah, that's what worries me about the playoffs. It will be hard to maintain the faster pace that has led to his success. He's not nearly as effective in the half court. I'm concerned that we could see some of his early season struggles reemerge when the game slows down. The good news is he's shooting better. It's important for that to continue in the playoffs.

yep. too bad the east is too stacked though... definitely would make the west all star team.

He is like the 40th highest paid player, and when new salary cap free agency will make that look even lower. There are many similar or worse players making more.

That isn't very impressive considering how much backing he had to be an all-star just 2 seasons ago.

Sounds about right, considering he is roughly the 40th best player in the league. Still, 40th is nothing to get overly excited about.

:biggums:
Lillard didn't even make the west all star team and he's a top 5 MVP candidate.

Isaiah Thomas is putting up 22pts 6.3ast 3reb for the entire season and doesn't make near the paycheck Dragic does. Not impressed.

In fairness to Dragic, Thomas has a bit of a different role and is getting those numbers in part because of the offensive system and being the team's 1st option. That's not taking anything away from him, I'm just pointing out that it's not necessarily a great comparison.
Dragic's salary is the main issue Heat fans have with him. The thing is, you can be overpaid and still be a good player. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Dragic is a good player. He's a very capable offensive PG, but he's probably more of a 3rd tier guy than the 2nd tier guy he appeared to be in 2014. His contract isn't egregious or anything and it won't cripple the organization, but I think he's being paid a tier above the player he actually is.

I'm more worried about his defense in the playoffs than his offense. He struggles against quick guards and the Heat are gonna be playing against Isaiah Thomas, Kemba Walker or Jeff Teague in the 1st round.

Its not like IT, Kemba or Teague can defend Goran either. Hes not a good defender but hes still clearly better than those 3 on that end plus he will have Winslow and Deng on the perimeter for help plus Whiteside in the paint, Teague doesnt have the perimeter help really. Millsap has to do too much and Kemba has some help. IT obviously has great help on the perimeter

Shifting gears but related, Bosh's absence is felt the most on the defensive end. Dragic struggles to keep his man in front of him but he also struggles against high screens and PnR's. Bosh is the best big in the league at defending the PnR. His quickness, length, and range could cover Dragic's deficiencies. Without Bosh the Heat have routinely been getting killed by high screening action and ineffective switches.
It's not just Dragic, but he's the main guy opposing teams try to attack. Wade is also not the defender he once was and JJ is at times a defensive liability. Perimeter defense is one of my biggest concerns heading into the playoffs. Luckily we have Winslow and Richardson to help out there.

His defense is what he has me worried. He can't stay in front of his man in a phone booth. I think the reason Richardson finished the game last night was so Rose didn't have a big 4th quarter. I wonder if we might start to see Richardson closing games more often now because every playoff team has a PG who can torch Dragic.
JJ is just as bad defensively, but you do have to have a secondary playmaker out there to take some pressure off Wade. But, since Wade is really the de facto PG, you'd rather have J-Rich out there as a shooter, instead of a third playmaker in Dragic.

It was interesting that Dragic was on the bench last night down the stretch. Richardson's defense and his emergence as a shooter makes him extremely valuable in crunch time. Between Dragic, JJ, Winslow and Richardson, Richardson is the only one who isn't a liability on one end of the floor.
I think it will be a matchup and game-flow thing, but we could see more of the Wade/Richardson back court to close games. That's another luxury of having two good ball-handling and playmaking wings in Wade and JJ.
