Story took an interesting turn. Apparently the killer's father was shot to death by police 10 years ago. He sued the police department for wrongful death and the case was settled out of court in 2011.

Right before he was killed, Smith and his wife had dinner with one of the cops who was involved in that incident. Looks like this guy Hayes was doing his best Punisher impersonation.

there's cctv footage where he rear ends the other guy first .. other guy pulls over to the side(I'm assuming to address the accident .. didn't look like any aggressive maneuver from him) .. but smith goes around and takes off instead of stopping .. so other guy drives after him and they make a left on the intersection in view .. don't know what happens after that or if the last bump came on that street ..

then there's a witness who says smith was the aggressor and heard smith say he had a gun .. not sure if he saw a gun or just heard him say he had a gun .. either way looks like smith looks even dumber in this situation than I thought .. keep in mind this is a family man .. destroyed it for nothing

Why wouldn't he have a gun? Like you just said, he tries to leave and then the guy chases after him. Sounds like a pretty good reason to feel like you might need to protect yourself.

he rear ended the guy .. why shouldn't he go after him ? .. he's trying to get away from an accident where he hit the guy's car .. the other guy pulled over after he was rear ended .. so looks like he was the one acting normally, pulling over to discuss the accident .. smith was the one acting strangely, taking off ..


then according to the witness, smith was thumping his chest, confronting the guy and telling him he had a gun .. then he's walking back to his car .. after he just told the guy he had a gun .. which could be confusing to the other guy, making him think smith was going to get his gun .. I don't know all the details but if that's what happened smith had a death wish
