View Full Version : So I put 1k on the Tesla 3

Got confirmation and 1k drawn out of my account.

Don't know when it's going to arrive seeing that I am one of the late ones.

I know it may be stupid to do it without driving one but Tesla is going to refund the money with interest if I don't want it.

I am also doing this for a potential flip.

Posted my confirmation email on FB and got immediate LIKES.

Only thing i wish is that it has a dashboard with gauges. It has nothing but a stupid monitor. Rumor has it there will be a head up display. There is a charging station near my house in a Whole Foods aka whole paycheck.

My university has charging stations too.

Don't know if they have the infrastructure to build 300k cars in the next two years.

The incentives....10k in California and access to carpool lanes. Snob is going to snob.

The Tesla 3's are going to be tacky.

The Tesla 3's are going to be tacky.

My only doubt/gripe since they are not really a full blown carmaker and to keep costs down they have to integrate everything into a computer/monitor. It would be expensive to produce switches and parts for the vehicle.

I always thought that people would prefer a Benz E-CLASS or BMW 5-SERIES over the Tesla S but how can you not roll the dice with the incentives that are offered and the performance is pretty good.

I wouldn't get Tesla's first year make of the 3 also. They are not going to get everything right the first try especially since this is their first shot at a lower-end vehicle. Give them a few years to iron out the kinks and get everything dialed in properly.

I am fully confident since the Tesla S has been out for years and that is enough time to iron out the wrinkles.

The great thing about it is that it doesn't follow the model of your regular cars where 1st gens suck.

The Tesla 3 is not the Tesla S. It's going to be a brand new design that will have it's issues. There are going to be a lot of these around on the market and it's not a high end car. This is not a wise purchase unless you are really into the Tesla brand.

Car starts off at $35k and $10 in tax incentives and the right to use the carpool lane in Cali?

If you have the money to blow then why not. I'm going to jump on the Tesla bandwagon in a few years after my Benz gives out until then the price is still too high and I need a car for long trips.

I had a chance to drive one of the Tesla models here in Australia. Obviously due to the response from an electric engine and having immediate power to all the wheels, it was quick as shit. I still couldn't believe how quick this thing got off the line and the fact it looked the way it did and was as quick as a Lambo. :oldlol:

I was considering the tesla but ford focus electric was offered for essentially free with a CA 2.5k rebate (3yr lease) so i opted for that.

It was floating around the forums but on their Terms/Condition it made no mention of it.

You ordered two? That is the limit.

That's not the point. If it's true...then Tesla is basically practicing cognitive dissonance marketing by reassuring the public.

Like I said, it can be cancelled anytime and we'll see how the markets are on the 2nd hand market when they become available.

I hope they can raise enough capital to start mass production. So far they have more orders than all major manufacturers combined in the last 5 years.

The test mules in California....if I go on with this purchase than I will be going for this exact color. Matte Silver?

I'm looking for a later or early model M3 and this order will be cancelled if I find one by then.

the big attraction to me for the tesla vs other electric cars is their supercharger network. the other car companies cant compete with that

Exactly what i am afraid of. The incentives running out.

I wasnt a day one depositor thats why i expect mu build sheet to be anywhere over 2.5 years.

at 35k i think its still a decent car, but with options it will probably be around 45k ...at that point i would suggest looking at a 4 series or an e class.

Considering they have more preorders than their total number of produced vehicles to date, my guess is you'll get your car sometime in 2020.

They are getting 400-500km a charge now.

Generally you'd just charge it overnight with the charge kit you get, no? In that sense it is practical, and I'm sure most aren't looking to do cross country treks with this car.

Or, I could just fill it up with gas in 20 seconds.

I love the matte black myself. A blacked out car is the coolest.

Never been in one.

So you are saying it feels like a high end luxury car? Like BMW or Mercedes? Or just a nice car feel?

I like matte Black but those are usually accomplished through wraps or what they call just with the primer.

This doesn't have any mirror reflection.
