The writing was weird and that voice was tough to get past in the first couple watches...but the character itself was pretty well executed. He was menacing, uncompromising, supremely dangerous, a total zealot with regard to his beliefs and didn't shirk from violence for even a moment in pursuit of his goals. Pretty nasty villain.

There are other Oscar victories and there are many nominations.

The stories are better which attracts the biggest players in the game. From acting to directing. Being in DC film can win you an Oscar.
