Notice how defenders can't impede Curry's forward movement with their hands, and notice how NOT A SOUL CONTESTED THE SHOT:

Am I supposed to lose my shit like the announcers did on Curry's uncontested layup, when I used to watch MUCH better shot-making ability that included actual CONTESTED shots:

Obviously, I have no use for today's game except to trash it and laugh at it.. Things don't always evolve - things devolve too, like today's catch-and-shoot NBA and the hands-off, cupcake defense that allow shrimps to dribble around unimpeded - it'a a joke.

Btw, you guys don't realize that the only reason Curry had to float it up like that is because he's a shrimp - a small guard that must shoot an 8 foot finger roll because he has to avoid bigger defenders in the paint - he can't jump into them and overpower them like Jordan or Lebron, and to a lesser extent Kobe.

Also, the wide open spacing in today's halfcourt allows sufficient room for the type of in-stride, one-foot takeoffs that Curry did on that play.. The spacing makes today's halfcourt play like transition.. Otoh, in previous eras, the lack of halfcourt spacing meant that those kind of in-stride, one-foot takeoffs were less frequent and were used mainly in ACTUAL fastbreak/transition (not today's cupcake, pseudo-halfcourt transition environment).

Both were impressive. Jordan split the defenders. Curry out ran them. I think they they thought he was gonna make a pass. Plus he was dribbling to take time off the clock. Context matters. Watch that whole youtube clip. I'm sure you'll find something that will impress you. He scored in a variety of ways. Lots of contested shots.

Hit the nail on the head.

Why would I pay attention to today's game - I'd be a worse basketball player if I did.

And you realize that no one contested Curry's layup right?

Isn't it dumb that people think an uncontested layup is the greatest thing ever?

I prefer REAL goat skill and CONTESTED shots like the Jordan gifs shown above and previously

Well if you would look at the YouTube clip you would see aplenty of contested shots. But you won't do it. :oldlol:

For the record, I've actually watched Jordan's amazing plays in real time. You don't have to prove to me how great he is. But if you are gonna sit here and act like Curry's not great then you are just being ridiculous.

Will I see shots contested like Jordan's were?

Or will they be uncontested like the shot that OP made this thread about, and the dumb announcers shitted their pants about

btw, I hope you're not talking about contested THREE-pointers, because it's a fact that over 70% of Curry's 3-pointers are taken with 4+ feet of room - here's nba.com's stats (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12260835&postcount=107) showing this

Dude just watch the video.
According to the OP, the uncontested layup that Curry took at the 4:30 mark is threadworthy.. And the announcers agreed - they had near heart attacks over the shot and reverted to their 8-year old voices.

The fact that OP made a thread about an uncontested layup makes my point about how people's standard of what constitutes a "tough" shot is much lower than previous eras.

Apparently Jordan is the only player in the history of basketball that ever made contested layups.
