Everything outside the box idea he had wouldn't fly in modern American.
Not paying taxes (yeah schools and Police departments are going to pay for themselves :oldlol: )
I never understood why he was the icon like Bernie Sanders is now.

Nothing. People are so upset with the establishment they start looking at extremes, when those guys are garbage as well.

Case in point: Ron Paul, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Bernie Sanders

He got a lot of run when he went against Bush and the tag along Republicans and Democrats forming the Patriot Act. He was probably horrified to see Obama put the Patriot Act on steroids and expand it even more.

I never got the Ron Paul thing. Not that I don't agree with his positions, but the huge numbers of fake "fans" that he has. Especially people on the left that pretend to like him.

I actually agree with him on most things. I just don't understand how he has so many fans who clearly don't agree with him on a single issue outside of drug legalization and his anti war stance.

You obviously have never looked into him if you think this is the case. :lol

Perhaps fringe was a better word though.

Nothing, his positions were mostly bat-shit crazy and the majority of his supporters were idiots.

He was one of the few people running at the time who was genuinly anti-war and the opposite of all the neo-cons in every way. Remember, this was a time when the Republican party platform was fear-mongering of terrorist, terrorist, terrorist!

I would easily take a Ron Paul over anyone who is running right now. Individual rights protected by the constitution is the most important thing to preserve and no one recently running is as committed to protecting them than Ron Paul was.
