They knew beforehand this would be the reigning champs final game of the season and that it would be Kobe's last game.
Biggest failure in TV scheduling in a long, long time.

still not smart to schedule two CA teams, one being kobes retirement and the other defending champs to play same day and time

Kobe announced his retirement after the season started. And they couldn't have predicted that Warriors would be playing for the record. Also, CA teams almost always play their home game at 10:30 ET.

See BigNBAfan's response, plus they are a billion dollar company, I don't buy that they couldn't have been like "Yo Silv we'll give you 30% of the additional revenue we make, alter the schedule on this shit bro"
