How many players have the hugeass ego to take that many? I don't recall Jordan doing it, nor shaq, etc. It was pathetic just like this forum for propping it up.

Shaq couldn't get up 50 shots and the fans wouldn't want it. The fans wanted him to shoot every time. You got to give the people what they want.
When Steph retires I'm sure the fans would want to see him try to hit 20 3s and pull from half court...they won't care able percentages and it will happen bc he earned it that respect and admiration for his game

MJ shot 50 shots in one game too. sure, he gunned it. who cares? 60 points on 50 shots at 37 years old. 44% FG after starting 0-5. low-key factor here is that gobert didn't play. if you're going to use a narrative, at least do it right.
anybody that isn't a big has marginal defense over the age of 35 for the most part at best. give credit where it's due for at least one night. no need to clutch your stan cape and pee on it overnight.
recognize an all-time great...at least for one night. don't be petulant. so many legends will be leaving us within a year or two. KG, dirk, duncan. so much b-ball history between them all. all champs

50 shots plus a couple touch calls on fouls to stat pad still went out guns blazing but give Curry Harden Durant and lebron that many shots in a game along with getting to line between 15-25 shots with that volume I could easily see 75-80 points bring scored. So while impressive still a bit skewed with mega volume of shots.

Most shot attempts since they kept tracking this in 1983. I know I will come across as a hater but yesterday's game further confirms why I never fully liked Kobe as a die hard Laker fan. He didn't play the game the right way. Yesterday's game wasn't an actual game but an exhibition show. As a Laker fan, I am ready to move on. Hopefully, we see some of that optimal, team ball like the GSW/Spurs play.

The fact is, any decent scorer who takes 50 shots is almost guaranteed to score a ton of points. But in a TEAM game like bball, if you are getting your shots within the flow of the game, you don't get that many attempts. It's only when you play selfish ball that you can even approach that many attempts. This selfish ball just doesn't fly for me. It actually disgusts me because that is not how the game should be played.

just stfu and continue stanning Jordan, seriously. Any "laker fan" who doesn't give the utmost respect to a guy who was an integral part to 5 championships and 7 finals appearances for their team, is an idiot. Some big laker fan you are with any avy of another teams player :oldlol:
seriously **** off dude, if you can't respect what happened last night then you need to stop watching the NBA.
Even the biggest Kobe haters I know in real life were going nuts over this game, that was the best game you'll ever see from a 37 year old, he scored the last 17 points for the team and led us to a W

if you seriously can find something to hate on after one of our franchises best players just dropped 60 while giving our team the W then you are not a real Lakers fan
who ****ing cares how many shots he took. We just witnessed one of the best playesr of all time for our franchise lead Lakers to a W while scoring 60 and hitting the GW. That was the best thing that has happened all season for us.
Seriously, this guy the an amazing player for us while he was a superstar for 7 finals runs and 5 championships and you wanna complain about a 60 point game in what was essentially a meaningless game for the franchise??
No real fan cares about how many shots Kobe shot in his last game, he dropped 60, do you realize how hard that is to do? The Lakers just finished their WOAT season on a high note, but you want to complain about how many shots one our GOAT players took for us in his last game while leading the team to victory.

yeah not buying that shit.. every real Laker fan that i've talked to since that game was so happy that our season ended on a high note with Kobe getting that moment.

It takes a selfish bastard to chuck it that many times. That goes for the NBA, college or the local playground. There is a right way and wrong way to play the game. Anyone who plays and understands the game knows this, even Kobe. Sure, when he had the help to win rings, he played the right way for the most part but on bad teams, boy did he let it fly without trying to get others involved. And that just never sat well with me.

MJ's shot selection was better. He played more within the flow. More off ball too and attacks to the basket. He is the all-time career leader in PER for both regular season and playoffs. He was efficient with his shots. His career FG% as a Bull was over 50%.

Curry is another alpha dog mentality player but he plays the right way. Some guys just can't help but play the right way because they aren't selfish by nature. They know that trying to get theirs at the expense of offensive flow is bad basketball.

The fact that he's saying Kobe doesn't play the right way when Kobe was the one that willed them to victory with like 6-7 straight made shots.... I just can't take him seriously.

FGA MJ = 22.9................KB = 19.5 ( granted Kobe wasn't a starter his first few years......but also look at MJ didn't play in the modern era.....if he did....MJ would shoot way more 3's and far more perimeter shots more FGA's)
so MJ shoots more per game...
moving on...
"MJ actually took good shots"...what does that even mean?...Jordan shot some of the most difficult shots ever....I seen him make so many contested fadeaway shots .....guess what...those are bad shots!!!...
a contested mid range fadeaway is the worst shot in basketball!!! ( according to analytics)...yet that was MJ's bread and Butter......because he could.
like I shown in another thread...7 Bull's players improved offensively without MJ in 94'...by scoring MORE Points and shooting a HIGHER FG% when MJ retired in 1994! ....
MJ shot a slightly higher FG% ( .04%) because his era wasn't as perimeter orientated......but look how many great shooters we have now and how exciting the 3BALL is!! ( thanks Kobe)

MJ ability to over power his opponent and strength made Dominate the game at a slightly higher level then Kobe....

Wait. This must be a troll account, right?
Did a Kobe fan just call Jordan a ballhog? And reference the Brad seller years?
Jordan averaged over 6 apg in the 80's and in certain seasons e.e.g. 1989 averaged 8 apg.
He shot consistently well. 52%, 53.5%, etc etc while Kobe never managed to shoot 47%fg once in twenty seasons of basketball.
This surely must be a bad joke? Because absolutely nobody but Kobe stans would agree with the drivel you put up. Kobe is considered the most selfish player in NBA history for a reason. If you're in denial, that's fine. But bringing up someone who leads the nba in player efficiency rating over the course of a career and calling him a ballhog is hillarious.
It's as if you're trying to convince yourself that your hero isn't what everyone says he is.

but this whole Myth that he only took good shots ...or wasn't a Ballhog is BS nostalgia revisionist history...he was the biggest ballhog ever...
and rightfully so...I would rather have Jordan shoot a million contested fadeaway jumpers ...then Bill Wennington take 5' hook shots.
Don't know what crack you're on but your numbers are all wrong.
Jordan didn't shoot 0.04% better. He shot exactly 5 whole percentage points better.
49.7%fg to Kobe's 44.7%fg. They aren't close and never have been.
Curry, Lebron, MJ, Durant are all much better shooters than Kobe. A 25 ppg scorer on 44.u%fg is the ultimate chucker. If that's what you're looking for, no need to look far. It's your favourite player.
Doesnt even average 5 apg for his career either. You'd hope he'd make up for his inefficiency with playmaker but ofcourse he trails the Jordans. CURRY'S and Lebron's in that category too.

What does being efficient have to do with being a ball hog?
For example, if you're taking 40 shots per game and making 25 of them.... hell yeah your efficient, but are you not hogging the ball?
A ballhog is someone who's clearly inefficient and is hurting the team yet insists on chucking up more shots.
Shooting 50-60% and shooting is fine and nobody besides you would call that being a ballhog..
Not to mention the playmaking aspects. If you're setting up your teammates and averaging 8 apg while you score efficiently, that's miles away from chucking relentlessly at an alarmingly low conversion rate and not even making up for that with play making.

It's as if you're trying to convince yourself that your hero isn't what everyone says he is.
so wait?....
Ballhog is someone who hogs the ball and shoots alot....
Kobe is a career 45% FG while MJ is a career 50% FG...take 20 shots and that's a difference of 9/20 or 10/20.....1 shot!:facepalm
Jordan was a ballhog!
Led the entire league in field goal attempts 9 TIMES
Was in the Top Ten in FG attempts 3 TIMES
Was in the Top 20 in FG attempts once, despite playing only 60 games
The only two years he wasn't among the leaders was because he was injured or came out of retirement and only played 18 and 17 games.
He was the Bulls leader in assists SOLELY based on the fact that he played more games as a Bull than anyone else. Don't think for one moment that Jordan got those assists from setting up teammates or finding the open man. He only cared about his own shots.
Look at 1989, the year Coach Doug Collins tried to put Jordan at point guard. He figured that since Jordan was such a good penetrator, he'd be able to drive the lane and pass to the open man. The only problem was that Jordan didn't like to pass. Most of his assists came from when he was double or triple teamed and had NO CHOICE but to pass.
So Jordan fought off any attempt to make him pass. His selfishness almost cost the Bulls a playoff spot. Thanks to a late season surge, they finished with the 6th seed. Jordan went whining to management, and Collins was fired after the season

Google ball hog.
Efficiency has nothing to do with being a ball hog or not.
A difference of 45% and 50% means.... instead of going 11/22, Kobe went 10/22. Big ****ing whoop, this is with Kobe taking like 4000 more 3 pointers in his career.

In other words you admit you're blatantly making up numbers?
Great.
Jordan shot 5 % better and not 0.04 % better.
Jordan averaged nearly 50% for his career.
Kobe has never once shot 47% in a single season in 20 years of basketball.
Jordan ofcourse averages more assists despite not playing with anywhere near the offensive tale that Kobe did over the course of his career.
Ther3s a reason Kobe is considered the most selfish player in NBA history. You can cry about it all you want but it doesn't change the fact that an overwhelming majority of basketball fans view him that way.
Thanks. Come again.

You just corroborated everything I said. Your Kobe stan called Jordan the biggest ballhog in nba history. And lied about numbers to make their efficieny closer than it is.
As you just admitted, Jordan was more efficient. Goes without saying. Jordan leads everyone in per for his career in both regular season and playoffs.
Kobe is 22nd all time.
So his logic about Jordan being a ball hog (and certainly being and bigger ballhog than Kobe or and anywhere near that) is pretty laughable.
Ofcourse we'll not forget assists. Again. Because Kobe is pretty pathetic in that regards compared to ANYBODY. Wade, Westbrook. Curry. Jordan. Lebron.
Pretty much everyone is a better playmaker than Kobe.

ok....5%...1 shot difference.....in a totally different era...:confusedshrug:
If Kobe shot 50% or 1 shot make vs 1 shot miss.....still doesn't mean anything.
Using .4% or .5% is always the desperate last attempt to scrape the bottom of the barrel...

My Logic was ( listen carefully)......a person who shoots alot....is a ball hog!
Jordan shot more! then KOBE!....Jordan was .04% or .4%...or .5% better....basically 1 shot!
the difference in 1 shot miraculously make Kobe a Ballhog and MJ not?.....just like the difference in .04%
in a different era of basketball...MJ shot over 50% IIRC 5 times in the 80's....he only shot 50% once his final 6 or 7 seasons.
The game changed alot in the 2000's .....players shoot alot more 3's.....
If the difference of .5% and 1shot....makes Kobe a Ballhog...then the diffrence of MJ shooting 3 times more per game.......should counter act! that...

We have a misunderstanding....
Jordan is more efficient.... doesn't mean he wasn't a bigger ballhog than Kobe. Jordan is 10 times better than Kobe, but he was more of a ball hog.
A ball hog that scored so efficiently that it benefited the team, nevertheless a ball hog.
Looking at Jordan's assists numbers are meaningless, dude looked to score more than anything. Just look at Westbrook's assists this year, dude's league leader in assists, yet he's a ball hog if you watch him play.
This is without mentioning that MJ arguably got more star calls than Kobe as well, and shot more freethrow attempts per game. Which aren't classfied under FGA, but are also field goal attempts...
deja vu

Noone has taken 50 shots since they started keeping records:

Not that it matters, this was an exhibition game, and Kobe gave the fans what they wanted.
Is this real?
Maybe in the 60s, it's commonplace for guys like Wilt to take 50 attempts regularly, because of the fast pace.
