This guy is a top 20 player of all time. One of the fiercest competitors ever and here is at 40 years old and 21 seasons in the books. Is he going to get any fanfare on the way out? Or is he going to just quietly walk away. A player as great and as significant as Garnett deserves heaps of praise on his way out the door not just some quiet retirement that most people barely notice.

Kobe is the 2nd GOAT.
Garnett is top 20.
It doesn't make any sense to have a farewell tour for KG.

There have been thousands of players of the years and this guy is one of the 20 best ever. . . he definitely deserves a farewell tour. He was a transcendent talent.

I think he's highly overrated due to the fact that he couldn't carry a team offensively in the most crucial moments of games.

He carried the T-Wolves offensively in 03' and 04'. Garnett was completely unstoppable on the block against the Lakers in 2003. He single-handedly made them a threat when they had no business being a threat.

Kobe isn't 2nd best player of all time. He's more in the 8-12 range

KG is not getting a farewell tour.
Players who got farewell tours.
Dr. J
Kareem
I think Bird
Jordan
Kobe
Am I missing any?
Others had farewell games. Hell, I remember Patrick Ewing's last game was televised on ESPN (vs. the Knicks at the Garden, he played for Orlando his last season.)

I don't think Bird really got a farewell tour.

Hakeem and Shaq was better than Garnett and didn't get a farewell tour.
So clearly it doesn't matter what he deserves.

I didn't think so either, I just put him there to be safe.
So only four farewell tours in the 70 years on NBA basketball.

you would have to be with a organizaion 10+ years to get a farewell tour.. most veterans hop around at the end and dont allow themselves the opportunity to get one

Cousy, Russell, Baylor, West, Reed, Zeke, Miller, ect. Those guys didn't get one.
Dirk and Duncan will also be leaving soon and they won't be getting one.

Kobe is a much much bigger name than Duncan and Dirk and Garnett.
Players whose last games are in the postseason don't get a farewell tour because you can't plan for a final game unless it's Game 7 of the Finals.
Players whose last game(s) are spent with a career ending injury don't get a farewell tour (Zeke, Shaq).
Kobe got a farewell tour because he announced his retirement months in advance and had a designated date for his final game.
Kevin Garnett could get the farewell treatment if he actually decides to show his face in a jersey and play some games.
Minnesota @ Boston will probably be booked for late next season and will air on ESPN.

So Garnett is not actually retiring? He'll stick around for next season too? 22 seasons? :biggums:

Robinson had a pretty large farewell tour.
Stop acting like Kobe's the only one who's ever done it and had some ovations.
That said, it probably wouldn't work for Garnett because he's been done for a few years now and is on a pretty terrible team.

Because Kobe is an attention whore. He wrote a stupid letter to gain sympathy and got what he wanted.
He should of retired years before. Maybe be would of gotten more recognition because it seems the longer he stays the more people underrate him.
