Is he really down to 12th all time in ppg?
I thought he was 10th to begin the season then dropped a spot.

Wow. Would you do me a favor and list the top 15 scorers in playoff history as well.
I didn't think he's this low. 12th for a guy who shoots as much as he does (especially given how inefficient he is) is shockingly low.

I know this thread is an ESPN ranking joke, but in all seriousness, is being the 12th greatest basketball player in history supposed to be a bad thing or some type of insult? Among the thousands upon thousands of those to have played professional basketball and millions who've played competitively at some level, to be considered one of the 12 best is ridiculously elite.
I just find it funny ironic that something so prestigious is actually being used (and taken) as an insult. I mean, you know a player is pretty damn good if being called a top 12 player ever is considered an insult.

Let's take the median of the 8 team league 60 years ago and today. So we have 19 teams for 60 seasons. An average NBA career is 4,5 seasons. 12 active players per team.
Estimated:
19*60*12/4,5 = 3040.
Kobe is in the 0,4% of scorers that played in the NBA. I'd say that's one of the best. He's surely not what the stans make him out to be, but no player is in the end, not even Jordan.

He's not top 10 in per or anywhere close to it. He's 22nd in pER, I believe.
He's 12th in both the regular season and playoffs in ppg.
And his shooting percentage is pretty atrocious.
He's a good scorer. But let's not compare him to Lebron or MJ or the elite scorers.

Saying that they get won't amount to being top 10 in any aspect of his life has nothing to do with basketball.
This is a basketball forum. You attacking a poster whom you know nothing about is an ad hominem.
He stated that he's not impressed by anybody outside the top 10 in scoring and most would agree.
Why are you crying and talking about the guys personal life?
Or insult Lebron23 in the other thread?

Nobody here is going to ever be top 10 in anything meaningful all time in their life. There a few billion people on the planet, there are billions who have passed away. That isn't bashing. It's reality. If you have to be top 10 in the history of the world at something to be successful, we all fail. We fail big time. If you consider that bashing, man we can't talk. That was a comical reality check for him.
As for lebron23...if you have to ask, you need help (that is an insult btw).

Kobe is outside the top 10 (12th) in ppg in both regular season and playoffs.
He's 22nd in PER.
He's at 39%fg in elimination games
He's at 40%fg in playoff games
He averages less ppg and has less 40 point games in the playoffs than Lebron.

You don't know him personally. Not that it matters.
He stated that he's not impressed by anyone who's not top 10. Let's assume he isn't accomplished in his personal life. What does that have to do with anything he said.
It doesn't change the fact that Kobe is only 12th.
