With Kobe's last game, will we see a new trend for retiring legends in the future? Will we see an exhibition type of game if there's no bearing for the playoffs involved? Discuss.

New trend / be on worse team in bball , play hog ball and score playground style and walk off with a farewell ring to type Jordan :rockon:

Probably not. I don't think any of the others (Duncan, Dirk, etc.) like the attention as much.

Nor do they have as many fans wanting them to do that.

I can't think of anyone playing that would get Kobe's send-off. Kobe's career was so interesting in the way it played out on and off court, seeing him at the lowest of lows and highest of highs, I don't think there's anyone playing today that impacted people in the same way( whether it be good or bad). I suspect Dirk and Duncan will retire after the season ends( not this year necessarily, I mean they won't announce it during the year), but they wouldn't get the same kind of reception.. They're not the same level of cultural icon.
