Who is on your Mount Rushmore of Jazz musicians? Just got finished watching Ken Burns' Jazz documentary and it got me wondering.

Personally, I would choose Coltrane, Mingus, Hubbard, Ornette Coleman.
If we are talking about like a universal Mt. Rushmore, I think Coltrane, Armstrong, Miles Davis and Charlie Parker would be on there.

Have you ever actually listened to any of them?

Armstrong, Duke, Parker and Coltrane. Hard to leave Miles out but Duke did a ton to expand the music.

Nope, just googled famous jazz musicians and these guys came up.
Jazz is not my top music genre, but I do listen. I'm more into 70s jazz though. Herbie and the Headhunters, Donald Byrd, and others like Roy Ayers and Stanley Clarke who were totally different from the Jazz of yesteryear like Duke Ellington, Armstrong. I also like vocal jazz like Billy Eckstine, Sarah Vaughn and people like that.
What a save by Schmeichel!
And then double post...
