**** you...I liked Chalmers. (despite him being prone to stupidity) Before Wade had the knee problems they formed a really formidable defensive backcourt.

If Lebron had won in 2011 he would've been the easy answer (Bibby/Arroyo).

Lebron is a primary ball handler and playmaker, just like Wade, Kobe, and many other all-time great perimeter players. Any PG playing next to those guys is not going to have pure PG type responsibilities. Their main role is that of a defender and shooter rather than a traditional playmaking PG. Chalmers could be inconsistent at times, but he filled that role pretty well. Hell, if he was the starter in 2011 the Heat might have won. Bibby was dreadful on both ends in the finals.

Plenty of championships have been won with average PG's. Even with all the rule changes that favor PG's, it's still the most overrated position in the sport.

For me, the perfect style of PG for winning titles is a PG who can defend, shoot, protect the ball, and control the pace. And yet, the majority of the league is in love with shoot-first PG's who dominate the ball and play at one pace. The worst part is that because teams are so infatuated by statistics these days, they over-pay for offensive production at the position.

Great post, and I completely agree that having a shoot first/scoring PG is not a recipe for winning. In fact the Warriors are the only team I can think of who won a title with their PG as a primary scorer, and Curry is obviously a freakish type player.
