Howard refuses to run a pick and roll offense even though it's what suits him best.

Kobe and Nash are both on record in interviews saying they wanted to feed Dwight constantly and pound the pick and roll but Howard refused to do it because he wants to be an oldschool center who scores only from low post isos.

Dwight can still be an effective player if committed to the pick and roll. Unfortunately, that's not how he wants to play, and coaches can't force him to.

Howard's overall points per possession is 0.98, or #104 overall. Not bad.

53.1% of his possessions are post-ups where he ranks #128 and scores 0.77 PPP. Not great. 20% of those possessions end up with turnovers.

Only 7.1% of his possessions are as the roll man. I realize that does not account for all of his PnRs as this doesn't include PnRs that result in a PG shot or pass to a spot up shooter. But 7.1% seems insanely low, especially considering that he ranks #3 in the leauge with 1.31 PPP!

Given that Morey is so into analytics, and because it is obvious that Dwight is a great roll man, and that pick and rolls are pretty good, how do he and McHale allow this? Superstar treatment?

Even Lamarcus "Midrange" Aldridge ends 18.6% of his possessions as the roll man, even though he is only #93 at those. Aldridge only posts up 38.8% of the time even though he is much more efficient than dwight at 0.86 PPP.

Even Big Al Jefferson rolls 13.9% of the time, again at a much lower efficiency at 0.93%. Even AL JEFFERSON posts up a little less than Dwight (51.2%) at a much higher efficiency (0.97 PPP).

Is there any other player who is in complete denial about his strengths and weaknesses than D12?

"He didn't seem like he really wanted to do a pick-and-roll offense, maybe because he had run one in Orlando for so long and he wanted to get in the post more," Nash said.

The 17-year veteran was skeptical that Houston would provide a drastically different offense for Howard to thrive in.

"We'll see," Nash said. "Houston runs a pick-and-roll offense and they are littered with shooting and can maybe space the floor more for him so he can have more opportunities inside with space."

Everyone agrees that teams with Dwight should pound the pick and roll. The only one who doesn't want to is Dwight.

If you feed him in the low post, Dwight actually averages BELOW the league average in points per low post touch. He is a below average low post player. It is more effective to have Harden isos than it is to feed Dwight in the low post and let him go to work.

If that is the case then DH is a retard. A good coach would not allow this foolery. You pick and roll or you sit.

howard looks like he can barely get up the court, so slow and clunky

Can't sit a guy who is getting paid a max salary by the GM and the owner.

The sad thing is that a pick and roll offense centered around Harden and Dwight would be very effective. Unfortunately both players refuse to play that way.

It's pathetic. All of the talent and pieces to be successful, but mentally they are just too stupid to make it work.

Even on the Lakers, Kobe and Nash would sometimes do PnR with him and it was very effective, and the Lakes looked good running it, but Dwight refused to do it play after play.

He thinks he's Hakeem.

Howard doesn't touch the ball enough because he has zero post moves, turns it over a lot and is a liability at the FT line

Her gets a turnover once out of every five times he touches the ball down there. You can't center your offense around a player like that!

Clint Capela is better in the low post than Howard is. The Rockets would be better off pounding it in to Capela if they want post scores.
