Why you always asking about mixing? Of course I mix myself and yes I know it's not a radio sound. It's not meant to be. I've mixed shit for other people to achieve that sound but it's not what I want my shit to sound like. Get your hating ass on.

Mixing is an art form. My shit sounds how I want it to sound. Keep hating from a distance and let the artists do what they do. ****ing clown

What's the issue I wanna know
number 1 is that the vocals are way too quiet, especially when the piano comes in, you can barely hear the vocals for several words at that point
number 2 is that the sound quality of the vocals doesn't quite mesh with the sound quality of the instrumental. are you using audacity or something like that?
TheSilentKiller
04-19-2016, 02:47 PM
on the positive side you wrote well for the beat and had a really nice flow

04-19-2016, 02:49 PM
Both of those gripes are mixing-related, and I addressed that. Appreciate the compliments though.
I'm not using Audacity. What DAW do you use? Where are your bars? Link me.

being able to hear vocals is kinda important
im not tryna make you cookiecutter the shit either bc you're right about mixing being an artform that everyone should try to cater to them personally - just one thing i think everybody should do is make sure the vocals are clean (yours are) and that you can hear them easily

^^ He's correct on both points. Piano needs to be a little less loud, little less sharp. Vocals need to sound smoother. Sounds rough.
Like the song though.
FYI I have zero music background other than being a dedicated The Voice fan for years. Just my opinion.

That's pretty good, but your mix does have room for improvement. Your delivery is nice but your vocals get off-rhythm a couple times when you syncopate against the drum/piano track.

You ever work with any established/well known artists? Randomly saw an article earlier today where some kid I went to HS with dropped his first album and one of the tracks (with Freeway) was named a Top 10 Best Song of the Week (#4) (http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/04/10-best-songs-of-the-week-prince-lil-b).
It should be noted that the writer of the article went to my school too, they were in the same grade if I'm remembering correctly.

Lol.
You didn't even listen to the track, did you?
This guy can't even construct a proper song, let alone mix a single verse, and you think he's got industry connects?
Depressing freestyles over limp and hollow repetitive instrumental loops, only fellow rappers like this kind of stuff, I swear.
You must be spamming all over the place to generate all of those plays, because there is ZERO listener retention when it comes to boring music like yours.
One click, maybe twenty seconds of skimming and the X has been pressed.
But you are going to sit back and celebrate like thousands of people are out there really jamming this trash lol.
Funny.
Don't post uninspired and lackluster material and get angry when the responses are negative.

Freeway is a professional rapper, makes sense he would want to get paid to rap. :confusedshrug:
And looking over his album track lists, looks like he also has Kurupt and Freddie Gibbs on. Gotta spend money to make money. Gotta respect that hustle. Never really liked that kid though.

Personally I don't give a shit. Played football with him in HS, didn't really follow his life after that. Just randomly stumbled on that list.
But people can ask the same question about you. I don't know what his record sales look like, but at least he's working with the likes of Freeway and Freddie Gibbs. Bonafide, accomplished professional rappers think enough of him and his ability to collaborate with him, paid or not.
Have you even completed an actual album yet? :confusedshrug:

Ace, why do you have to be so salty to constructive criticisms? I've told you once before & I'll tell you again, stfu & add flavors to your "tracks", man. It's so vanilla, dry, ugh.... I'm not clicking any of your shit again.

Those guys were aiming for the pop charts and understoodd how to arrange complete songs.
Uninteresting soundcloud rappers freestyling over terrible production is not the same thing.
The only person to blow up on soundcloud was Fetty Wap and he was crafting catchy music, not embarrassing struggle flows.
