View Full Version : What if the Cavs traded rookie LeBron and kept Ricky Davis and Darius Miles?

in LeBron's rookie year 2003-'04, the Cavs got rid of Ricky Davis and Darius Miles because they were deemed to be potential "bad influences".

Lets think outside the box for a second. LeBron's value was absolutely immense at the time (as it still is, but even more so then). What if the Cavs traded LeBron instead? They could have gotten a mother load - probably 2 all-stars at least, maybe 3 starting caliber players. To go along with Miles, Davis, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Carlos Boozer, etc. They could have contended for a few years and maybe brought Cleveland a championship for the first time in forever.

Lets say the Cavs swapped 1 for 3 and took Carmelo, and also relieved Denver of young Nene and Andre Miller. Something like that.

Miller
Davis
Carmelo / Miles
Boozer
Big Z/ Nene

Throw up some scenarios. Have fun with it.

You'd have to throw me a better scenario than that.

That isn't a championship squad

 cmon son wtf. say they get LUCKY and get two allstars on a team with miles/davis/boozer. That would be a horrible no defense chuck first team who would never even reach the ECF. Boozer would still leave.

Basically Z+miles(negative value)+davis(negative value)+2 allstars. That ain't a contender, that's just a bad locker room waiting to happen.

Then the GM was fired the second day he made this deal.

They would have at least two titles without Lebitch

Cleveland is making the same mistakes all over again trying to buy their way into a championship instead of actually building a team like how GSW and Spurs did.

Are these owners so fvcking stupid that they don't realize that the first step in having a championship team is securing a proven tried and true GM that knows what they are doing?

Ricky Davis was "the man" and Darius Miles played the position Lebron did.

rookie year Lebron actually held back scoring. I remember on fast breaks he had opportunities to score and he would just rondo a pass to Ricky Davis so he could be happy.

Lol that team wins 45 games and gives up 105 ppg

Better than the Cavs were in LeBron's rookie year, but long term WAY worse.

Not even close. They wouldn't have got passed Indiana or Detroit. Let alone beat the LA or San Antonio. They would have a been a perennial 6 to 8 seed at best.
