so you are telling me a player's points go down when sharing the ball with another great scorer.

I don't know if you are slow or you have an ulterior motive behind this.

Curry is an overrated "star" who holds his superstar teammates down.

Am I doing it right?

For this we're ignoring the first season he was a starter.

He was still adjusting and finding his role and spots in a larger minutes role
Teams are still establishing the scouting report and figuring out how to guard him at that point.

So we're gonna start at the 2013-14 season for serious analysis but I'm going to include the 2012-13 season (after the Monta Ellis trade which happened 13/3/2012) so you can make your own judgements.
Here are his averages in games without Curry

Game Logs of those games:
1/16/2013 vs MIA (12.5 TS%)
1/18/2013 @ SAS (49.2 TS%)
1/29/2013 @ CLE (66.7 TS%)
1/31/2013 vs DAL (68.3 TS%)
11/8/2013 @ SAS (34.4 TS%)
11/20/2013 vs MEM (52.8 TS%)
11/22/2013 @ LAL (42.8 TS%)
4/16/2014 @ DEN (80 TS%)
2/22/2015 @ IND (60.2 TS%)
12/30/2015 @ DAL (31.5 TS%)

Analysis of why he played the way he did in those games.

Perimeter Defenders: LeBron James(30 min)/Dwyane Wade(30 min)/Mario Chalmers(27 min)/Ray Allen(26 min). All of those guys are plus defenders with Dwyane and Bron both being elite at the time, obviously he's gonna struggle against one of the leagues best defenses, but going 1/8 with no FT attempts and no 3PM isn't excusable, seems like he got frustrated and took a backseat to Jack/Lee/Landry this game.

Perimeter Defenders: Danny Green(29 min)/Kawhi Leonard(28 min)/(20 min)Stephen Jackson. These guys are great or above average perimeter defenders and long too. Kawhi and Danny both gave us insane performances in the 2013 Finals defensively so a bit of a struggle is expected. Klay went 4/11 from 3P which is good not great so an expected drop off and 3/9 from 2 as well as 3/3 FTs. This statline isn't bad considering the team he played against, Duncan and Tiago inside would've deterred anyone from going in and Klay struggled with creating his own shot inside the arc this game.

Perimeter Defenders: Alonzo Gee? This Cavs team was awful and had no serviceable wing defenders. Klay goes 6/8 from 3P, 7/16 and 0 FT attempts. He got left open at the 3 point line a lot and got hot, since no one had an adequate scouting report on him at this point, struggled with creating his own shot inside the arc and was tentative in attacking their weak inside D leading to 0 FTA. In summation, no one was guarding Klay Properly and the only serviceable defender was at the rim in Tyler Zeller and is the reason he struggled from 2.

Perimeter Defenders: Dahntay Jones(13 min)/Shawn Marion(35 min)/Vince Carter(28 min). Old guys but smart defenders and good at it at this point, he likely had a lot of OJ Mayo on him as well to start before Carlisle adjusted. Klay goes off this game which ends up being his last without Curry in the 2012-13 season. He goes 8/11 from 2P which he damn well should because theres actually no competent center on this roster, 3/7 from 3P which is great, and he adds 4 FTA which at first doesnt seem great but considering how little he was using the ball this game (0 turnovers!) its pretty unreal. This game comes with a caveat though, Dallas had nothing in their frontcourt and David Lee seemed to be their main worry as he went for 15/20/9 game. Klay thrived as a third option because even Jarrett Jack used the ball more than he did.

Perimeter Defenders: Danny Green(28 min)/Kawhi Leonard(31 min)/Manu Ginobili(22). Klay struggles against the eventual 2014 NBA champs in his first game without Steph where teams have a scouting report on him. He attempted to be the first option and primary focus but wasn't up to the task. 4/11 from 2P, 1/5 from 3P, 0 FTA with 3 TOs. This was his first game to show us what he was made of so gotta take it with a grain of salt.

Perimeter Defenders: Tayshaun Prince(38 min)/Quincy Pondexter (32 min)/Mike Miller(29 min). Tayshaun was still good on D at this point, Q-Pon has always been serviceable and lol mike miller lol. Tony Allen was suspended this game. Klay Thompson later in the month gets take #2 at being a real first option. 7/12 from 2P, 2/7 from 3P, 2 FTA and 3 TOs. He was having a good game inside the arc and appears to just have been cold from 3. Memphis has insanely smart interior defense and Marc Gasol blocked 4 shots this game so it appears Klay avoided the inside, his only attempt was blocked by Zach Randolph.. Not what you want to see out of a first option, needed to attack the rim more but was afraid of getting swatted.

Perimeter Defenders: Nick Young(31 min)/Xavier Henry(20 min)/Wesley Johnson(22 min). This was an atrocious game by Klay. No one could've guarded him and he shrunk which lead to a loss to a LAL team that didnt have Dwight/Kobe/Nash playing. 2/10 from 2P, 4/10 from 3P, 5 FTA and 2 TOs. He clearly handled the ball shot well from outside, but he couldnt hit a bucket elsewhere for his life. His only two makes inside the arc were both assisted mid range shots. He attempted two shots at the rim and missed a layup on one and the other one got swatted.
Write off, he played 8 minutes it was one of the last regular season games.

Perimeter Defenders: George Hill? This IND team was depleted on the perimeter and if Klay didn't abuse them outside I think I might've killed myself if I heard someone refer to him as the best SG in the NBA. They had no Lance anymore and Paul George was injured. Klay goes 7/15 from 2p, 5/13 from 3p, 10 FTA and 2 TOs. The best part about this game is that he attempted 10 FTs. He was supposed to abuse them outside they have nobody, but inside they have Hibbert who is one of the best interior defenders/rim protectors in the league and David West who's another great defender down low. Great game for Klay because he actually attacked the rim.

Perimeter Defenders: Wes Matthews(25 min)/Chandler Parsons(31 min). Klay sucked this game against Wes and Parson who are great and good perimeter defenders respectively. 3/11 from 2P, 1-4 from 3P, 2 FTA and 2 TOs. He was horrible and clearly struggled in the first game where everyone was really out to get him. He was their first option and failed miserably, he didnt even contribute in any other facets of the game amassing 2 AST and 1 REB. Absolutely horrible game.

IN CONCLUSION

What Klay Thompson brings to the table is his scoring and above average defense. In games without Curry where he is viewed as the first option he has done horribly. Klay is a great 2nd/3rd option but horrible 1st one, he struggles whenever someone who can actually play defense on the perimeter is there to deal with him. The only time he did well and really passed expectations without Curry was against Dallas in 2012-13 and that was because he was the third option behind Jarrett Jack and David Lee and teams didn't have the scouting report on him. Klay as a 1st option would be akin to the Rudy Gay fiasco in Toronto/Memphis.

As good as Thompson is, he really is a bit too inconsistent. Sometimes he seems not as focused when Curry is on the floor.

Iirc that was the very first game Curry missed.
So you're comparing one game with him being a first option for the 1st time to a 5 game sample.

Stick to shit posting, you're better at it.
