To the title to repeat, while putting up his ridiculous numbers, and beats S.A. and Cleveland comfortably, where would you rank him on the all time list?

I'm not talking projection. I'm saying at the end of this season.

16-25 probably. If his career ended right after of course. His career needs some longevity and also more titles to really cement his legacy.

I think you would need a full summer once the rush is gone to make a proper decision.

I'd rank him in the ~15 range legacy wise, although his peak play would be up there with anybodies. At least offensively.

This. Which would also put him ahead of Kobe.

If it is so easy and not even close, how did ESPN justify #3 and #12?

Def HOF first ballot right now. With a top 5 all time peak ever in the history of the game.

I believe Steph at this point is in the 25-30 range. He may have a legendary peak but I can't put him over Dirk, Wade, etc when he's only been amazing for 2 years as opposed to 5-7 from others.

Yeah he doesn't have the longevity that the others do. If he does manage to do it though, his peak is higher than ten aforementioned. With 2nd consecutive mvp and a second title (with room to add a LOT in the future), I think he's moving up close to 11-15.

Why in the hell would a legitimate basketball aficionado care about what ESPN says?

Grow up, dude.

The self proclaimed ESPN expert panel consisted mostly of online editors and a few writers

In other words...a panel of opinionated fools.

BTW, I do like this comment from that writer...

As expected, Michael Jordan topped the list, followed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Then, things started to get strange. LeBron James has somehow leapfrogged Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, and Kobe Bryant as the third greatest player in the history of professional basketball. If you conducted this poll in 10 years when LeBron was wrapping up his Hall of Fame career, you could make an argument that The King should be ranked in the top three or maybe even number one. However, there is no way that James should be given such status after 13 seasons in the NBA.

Incidently, how about ESPN's "panel of experts" in 1999, with their "Sports Century" segment?

https://espn.go.com/sportscentury/athletes.html

MJ, Wilt, Magic, Russell, and then Kareem.

Evidently KAJ came back in the last 17 years and added to that resume.
