But ISH told me that Connor McGregor was the paragon of manliness. Why is he giving up and quitting his biggest passion in life after one loss?

I thought this news was fake but apparently its real (for now). However, I just read that Conor recently did attend a MMA fight where his teammate died from is injuries. This has to be screwing with his mind right now.

Cry for attention. Must be trying to get a greater share of the winnings in his future bouts.

The payoff will only be worth it if McGregor makes a surprise run-in to interfere with Diaz's match.

ruh roh. his coach with the far scarier tweet, actually.

...

okay, i'm pondering:

A) nothing serious, just a really shitty day, too much pressure, etc. tomorrow he deletes the tweet and gets right back to it.

B) tore up his knee or some such and is going with his plan B, which was to retire young anyway.

C) popped for something, trying to save face.

D) tried to make some kind of a joke / drumming up some attention... just looks silly.

i imagine this all gets sorted in the next 24hrs.

what about E), hes just genuine and serious with it?

I think its boss like, if true.

I see thats kinda B.

Don't care & watch MMA/UFC, but everytime one of the marquee stars, who gets hyped here loses that guy/gal starts some whiny drama. wtf...

Retires for a year and then comes back on the hype train.

Like Rousey...just lost. She is sort of retiring till people forget the loss and the hype train continues.

Per Dana, Conor has been pulled from UFC 200. Working on a new main event.

MY NIKKA CONOR DOE! THE LEGEND

The problem we have here is that most fighters think they can move up and down various weight classes and dominate. I think this leprechaun is great and out of this world in his weight class but don't mess with the top dogs in a higher weight class.

His other problem is his attitude. Nobody would care if he loss the fight in a more humble manner or have a humble personality. He is easily shook and rattled and I think that is the Irish in him.

Is this his way of taking his ball and going home, or is he actually trolling? Can someone smart chime in.

He is retiring from UFC to join WWE and form an IRA stable with Finn Balor and Sheamus.

Sets up an epic shoot fight between Connor McGregor and a returning CM Punk down the line.

If he is retiring maybe he could get a deal similar to Lesnar's deal. He could be a top heel.

Has to be a joke.

There's no way he let Diaz scare him into retirement.

He's the Rousey of MMA...a fraud.

Turns out Dana pulled Connor from 200 because he refused to show up for promotional events. Dana showing the Irishman who's boss, and Connor is just throwing a tantrum.

Or maybe Dana and/or Connor realized a rematch with Diaz is a bad idea, and this is their way to pull the fight. Probably set up card where McGregor headlines by himself.

Im thinking B or something very personal/emotional problem happened
Maybe that death in ireland a couple of weeks ago really got to him? Who knows
Some mma reporters are saying that it looks fairly legit at this point :o
yeah... i had forgotten about that possibility.

watching too much brain damage (and even worse) over time has got to mess with a person's head. even a badass fighter-type person.

a fighter refusing to fight because he wants more money? hmm what other combat sport does that sound like? either it stays the same and dana controls everything, or dana pays his fighters more and they have more control over their own career. you can't have both.

UFC has sucked these past couple of years anyway.

Between the injuries and the belts changing hands all the time, it's become a stale product. This incident just adds to the absurdity and lameness the UFC has become.

diaz owns this dude physically and psychologically.

the pressure is too intense. he's so afraid of losing again.

he's showing his true colors. he's not tough enough to deal with all this shit. he'd rather quit.

he's fortunate to have made a lot of money from the bogus hype.

So explain how his hype is bogus? I'd love to hear it.

Beating Mendes, a guy who only lost to the champ... Then he beat that champ, who hadn't lost in 10 years...

Which bit of it all is bogus? He utterly decimated a division. Not like Ronda who was beating up on part time soccer moms. Dude was beating unbeaten guys.
