Wait, has he actually taken so many shots behind the backboard? :biggums:

I like how there's a line down the middle.

Having said that, isn't there a higher resolution image for this. Also, did Kobe not take any shots stepping on the 3 point line. In 20 years and the most shots taken by anyone I'm sure he has many, and a proper career shot chart should show that.

Pic could be faux, but some players are very conscious about their feet.

His turn around fade way from that right baseline was a HUGE staple in his game. Additionally, he would end up fading from damn near out of bounds...

But look how far behind the backboard some of those shots appear to be have been taken. And look how many of them there are. It must be something wrong with this chart.

Maybe lay ups where he took off behind the backboard.

There are quite a few on here that would probably do that.

I know. But it's the only rational explanation. Kobe's been taking those baseline turn around consistently since about 1999....and he definitely took a fair share before that.

Just look how many he's taken this year alone. It's the only explanation.

If he took off like that on the baseline, then it was usually a dunk..

Exactly. WTH?

Saying he faded out of bounds doesn't make sense. Aren't shots counted from where you take off, and not where you land?

For everybody wondering and guessing about the shots, here you can scroll over the dots and it will tell the type of shot and the date taken. So you can I guess search the game on YouTube and the post a link of the play. http://graphics.latimes.com/kobe-every-shot-ever/

I looked up the highlights for the Dec 14, 2010 game vs Washington, the alley oop from behind the backboard, and the only alley oop from the highlight video that I watch was this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXDtmR03IfQ
