View Full Version : Was I being prejudice? Question about women drivers

I was having a conversation about driving with a group of people and I brought up how generally when I try and change lanes when a car refuses to let me in 9 out of 10 times it's a woman driver. Some will be blatant and shake their heads like, "you ain't getting the fakk in my lane bitch."
Which lead me to say that in general woman drivers tend to be inconsiderate. Immediately one girl in my group gets defensive and says she's not like that, but then insults me by saying Asians are terrible drivers. I'll accept that stereotype, although typically it's towards the Chinese. Is it like that where most of y'all live? Are women inconsiderate on the roads?
Why is it that we can say Asians suck as driver, old people are slow ass drivers, red necks love big trucks, but it's not cool to point out women are lane hogs? I don't think I was prejudice, just an observation.

in your eyes it isnt prejudice because youve had real life experiences with it. but yes, its prejudice overall. pretty plain and simple
look at it this way. say there was a women who slept with 4 asian guys in her life and they all had tiny little weenies. is it fair for her to say all asian guys have small peckers based on her experience? is she being prejudice or just ignorant?

I find this tends to be the case. It is a mixture of both being inconsiderate, unaware and lack of ability a lot of the time.
Like when you're trying to merge onto the motorway... Can't count the number of times the motorway is generally empty apart from one car, and you're trying to merge into the lane, yet one chick is just there chilling, not bothering to just indicate and get in the other lane so I don't have to slow down or speed up like crazy to merge in. All you have to do is notice someone is merging in, but to them they are blissfully unaware, or simply on a power trip where they believe they are in the right and don't want to bother. And honestly, this is the type of thing that causes a slowdown in traffic when there is more cars on the road.
This and people sitting in the fast lane on motorways/highways going slow is what really ticks me off. People generally complain about the traffic but everything would go a hell of a lot smoother if people just knew the road rules a lot better. It is actually crazy how many people don't know that the inside lane here in Australia (the right one since we drive on the left side) is the fast one, and that it is actually illegal to be in it unless overtaking.

In my eyes anyone who is blocking someone on purpose "just because" deserve some ass beating. U can never know where someone is rushing and dont judge others by your standards.

When some one is driving stupid in LA, 99 times out of 100 they are either an old person, a Korean or Chinese woman or a basic bitch yapping on her cell phone.
Women are bad drivers compared to men. Biologically they have worse spatial awareness than we do, and biologically they generally react worse under pressure than men do due to the makeup of their internal hormones.

Yeah, basically this is my coworker which takes me to work sometimes. Shit, it gets me so bad, Im basically sitting in that seat, disgusted, cant look on the road cause of all inconsiderate moves.. I told her a couple times " you know, that right lane is open, and we got 10 cars flashing their lights behind us" something along those lines.. and, yeah, she got cold towards me for a week.

Because you are allowed to be discriminatory and derogative towards one group of voters, and not the other.
But yes, women drivers suck balls. Ask my girlfriend, she'll readily admit it. But some women just think because the vast majority women suck, that for every one who doesn't you need to make some sort of special announcement for them.

The worst thing is, you flash some of these people, and they still don't get it. I've literally had people going 80kmh in a 100kmh zone and I eventually have to get in the left lane and overtake them once there is enough room from the other cars, and I have them give me "WTF" looks as if they are offended and confused by me flashing my lights.
I honestly believe too many people have their licences. There needs to be more rigid and tougher testing. Not everyone is actually fit to drive a car. Everyone knows multiple people whom you simply are not comfortable being in the car with, and always have your foot on that invisible brake with.

And to further contribute to the OP, people are too easily offended these days.
There is this notion that speaking in generalities, and making inferences based on statistics and experiences is not allowed anymore, no matter how plausible they may be. People are full of shit these days. Speak your mind, just don't go too over the top with it.

So I guess this is a universal thing. That's exactly how I see it is that power tripping on the road. The lack of consideration for other drivers and sometimes street rules.
One time I was caught in the situation where a female wouldn't let me merge. When I got onto the freeway I managed to snake into the third lane get around her car and pass her. I looked over at her and smiled. This chick went ballistic! She tailed me like a raving lunatic for a good 10 minutes. I even went into rural area just to see how far she would follow me. She broke a couple of rules on her tailgate spree. I was turning left and held on to the last second when the light turned red and chick burned through the red to stay on my tail. Cars were pissed honking at her. So I finally pull over and stop into a parking lot. I casually get out the car to talk her down. She gives me the quick finger and peels off.:lol
I tell ya, she was relentless in her attempt to flip me off

God, if you think it's bad in Australia, you should see what it's like in Florida: so many people who can't drive for shit here, and it's not surprising, considering how ludicrously easy the practical exam is (not to mention the number of latinos, statistically proven to be awful drivers, and who can take the exam in Spanish, just to make things even easier).

Go to Houston where half of the Hispanic population doesn't have a license.
To be fair Asian drivers are 'bad' because most of them don't give a fk about following the rules. Just go to Asia and you'll see how fearless everyone is at driving cause no one cares.

I guess thats better than in CA, where they shouldn't have licences, but they figured so many were saying **** it, ignoring the law (shocker), and driving without them, they'd go ahead and save their voters some legal issues by just issuing them licenses.

I'll believe there are bad drivers in every racial or gender group until I see statistics stating otherwise. There are women who can't park, white dudes who drive like assholes, old people who can't see, and Caribbeans who have no apparent idea what they're doing.
I mean, 9 times out of 10 when I'm trying to change lanes before a merge with my blinker on there's some idiot Filipino with a Napoleon complex who refuses to let me over.

I'm pretty sure insurance statistics show that women are actually better drivers than men. Or perhaps they're just safer?
I feel like height is a large factor. Whenever I pass someone who is driving like shit, it's typically an older person, woman, or Asian. The one thing they always have in common? They're noticeably short sitting in their vehicle.

asians are bad drivers, only because that's how they really drive on asian roads but not in a bad light, they are actually road warriors being able to make 3 lanes highways into 5 lane highways ...and when they try to do that on roads where the majority of people actually follow the rules and lanes...they clash

A lot of Asians including me actually think Americans are relatively bad drivers. This is because driving in America is way too easy. Americans don't have experience with many road conditions. An American friend of mine freak out when he saw for the first time how we drive in Asia, saying how he absolutely can't drive here.

Women also have this habit of being frustrated at other drivers despite being the ones causing the slow down or near accident.
I remember my friend trying to get out of a car park at a shopping centre, and this chick was half way in front of his parking space, and wanted to get in next. Did not move the whole time, and my mate had to reverse in the weirdest way possible, and made it extremely difficult on him in terms of not hitting the cars beside him too. Caused a bit of a traffic jam in the shopping centre, and this chick was waving her hands in the air and looking frustrated the whole time. :oldlol:
It was legitimately one of the funniest experiences for me due to not driving, but my friend was raging hard. :oldlol: He got even more pissed off after I told him she was frustrated. :oldlol:

So I spoke with my wife about it. She works at a law firm that represents clients that are making auto insurance claims. She confirms that more women report accidents than men about 1.5 to 1. Maybe it's a case that women do their due dillegence and follow through claims, or they're just more opportunistic. But yes, in her case more women get into accidents. She also told me that a lot of cases belonging to women are lost in court due to falsifying information ie: finding out it was actually the victim's (their client's) fault or that they falsified their claim such as accident history.

Male motor vehicle fatalities outnumber women like 4-1. There's a lot more to the statistics because it's difficult to assess driving rates, or essentially, fatal crash efficiency; to put it in basketball terms. The bottom line is men drive like assholes and kill people on the road. Go ahead, keep blocking people from merging. Not in your fakking lane, right? You can add the ISH Driving Instructor title to your resume to go along with Father of the Year.

This is a legitimate factor, women are more emotional and they translate that emotion to whatever activities they prtake in.
Anecdotal example: when i was 18, an older woman tried merging into my lane even though my rear bumper was parallel to her front bumper, i.e i was in her sight if she had looked, but she didn't and she hit my rear quarter panel. I had to flag her down because she wouldn't pull over. Her excuse? Her husband was sick in the hospital and her mind was on that.

Great example.
I've nearly been railroaded off the road by a middle aged woman who happened to be Asian. Her peripheral vision and awareness must be non existent. I was right beside her, how could she not see me?
I honestly give people passes. I rather give them a pass then have them make a swift decision that'll either total my car or side swipe my shit. I think that's the biggest issue, people not wanting to give other drivers a pass. Whenever there's a driver at a stop sign and oncoming traffic a distance away, I'll give them a pass so they wouldn't have to wait longer IF it doesn't slow down my lane with anyone behind me.
I drive defensively though. At night I make sure intersections are clear when the stoplight turns green, making sure no drunk drivers are speeding through that yellow or red. Blinkers on at all times when needing to merge or lane change long enough to allow people behind to change lanes if they didn't want to slow down and wait or go around me.
So many times I've used my horn from preventing people to merge into me from a yield or speeding pass a stop sign. My issue isn't that people drive slow. It's the assholes behind you on a stop and roll stop sign blowing their horn at you to move. One time this elderly guy behind me was blowing his shit but he clearly sees there's oncoming traffic preventing me from going. I literally winded down my window, stuck my middle finger out and he got scared. I'm like WTF am I supposed to do? Kill myself so you can get to where you need to go? Was upset he was an older guy, should of known better. Not getting passes is fine, I understand, we have places to go. But DO NOT fck with someones right to wait at a stop sign clearing traffic.

I don't get upset with people who accidentally try and merge into your lane, or make a mistake, etc.
I get upset with bad driving. I get upset with not letting people in when it won't impact you in the slightest.
I can't count the amount of times I've been in the lane that is ending, and I've sped up to get in front of the car that is beside me, and the jackass next to me speeds up to so they can get in front for whatever reason and continue to go slowly after that.

I made a dumbass uninformed prejudicial remark. Same as yourself.
Chill bro.

Yeah, you were but it baffles me why anybody cares about these stereotypes. Group X are bad drivers...is basically the least offensive thing you can say about a group of people.
It's more of the amplified insinuation though when we're talking about a whole large group vs an individual.
For example, saying "you're terrible at math" to an individual is barely an insult. Saying "women are terrible at math" would be insinuating that women are intellectually or logically inferior to men.

On the most part, yes. I don't mind if it was an honest mistake, but if it is down to selfish ignorance and someone who is only looking out for themselves, then it gets me mad.
:oldlol: Yeah, the old speed up so you can't cross lanes douchebags. Gotta love them :facepalm

I'm pretty sure insurance statistics show that women are actually better drivers than men. Or perhaps they're just safer?
The latter. Guys are more likely to drive aggressively or recklessly, but it is deliberate. Women are simply less skilled. The former has been shown to be the cause of more serious accidents.
I feel like height is a large factor. Whenever I pass someone who is driving like shit, it's typically an older person, woman, or Asian. The one thing they always have in common? They're noticeably short sitting in their vehicle.
In Texas the worst drivers are --bar none-- Mexican women in SUVs. They don't signal when changing lanes and they don't bother checking their blind spots when doing so.

Just like how women always tell you to get out of the kitchen.
Is your mom the only woman you have interacted with?
