View Full Version : I have to pull 2 wisdom tooth :(
Teeth, tooth, whatever
I have to pull 2 because I have a cavity on the bottom near it that the dentist cannot reach without removing. Therefore, he said I have to remove both the top and the bottom on the left side.
NOW. He took an X-RAY and it I have nerves very close to the wisdom tooth, so I have to go to an oral surgeon to get them removed safely.

I'm a little btch, I'll admit it. What should I expect? Pain? Should I be put to sleep? What if I wake up with all my teeth missing and shit? How long does it take to recover?

I got them pulled when I was 13. They definitely do hurt the day you get them pulled, but after that it's just dealing with huge cheeks.
And you'll be fine, I remember them giving me some gas and then all the sudden I was sitting there being told they got pulled. It sounds scary at first but it's really nothing

 calm down
I've only had surgery done once, and being put to sleep was cool. Kind of CRAZY how strong it is that they can do whatever they want to you without you knowing.
I'm hoping it doesn't hurt, I want to workout, I can't miss a week of not :(

Physical activity increases bleeding, but you should be fine after a few days
Wtf though? My dentist told me I shouldn't be afraid that I had my teeth pulled before when I was younger but don't ever recall doing this?? Am I missing teeth?
We have a dentist here is it Rufus

This is honestly nothing to worry about at all. An oral surgeon removed all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth and I was fine.

When I think of surgeries I have had, having my wisdom teeth pulled didn't even cross my mind. That is how minimal this is. I played ball the day after my surgery. You will have a little swelling and need to eat soft food for a few days while taking pain killers.

Thanks lol. I feel better now. Do they give pain killers or?

What about without anesthesia and without any numbing?

I'm not sure if it would hurt less without a cavity, I'm going to assume so, because when the dentist applies pressure with the pliers it feels like your brain is imploding inside of your head.
"Discomfort" is their word of choice in those situations.
They numb the area but you can still feel a good deal of "discomfort", especially when they lever the tooth back and forth to loosen the roots.
It is temporary torture, luckily it doesn't last very long, hearing the loud crack of it popping out is such a relief after clenching in agony, desperately pleading for the moment to end.
Good luck, it doesn't take very long to heal afterwards, just be careful to avoid dry sockets and take it easy.

It's not a big deal...I had them pulled a year and half ago...they numb you up and you don't feel a damn thing except someone tugging and pulling out your tooth lol. You can even eat something soft like pudding after 7 hours. It's not a big deal. They'll prescribe you some ibuprofen and you'll be fine.

If both wisdom teeth are not crooked, it's nothing more than a quick incision and a yank. You don't feel anything and doesn't take more than 30 seconds per tooth, in addition to the ~15 minutes for the analgesia shots to kick in obviously. No need to go under but if you have bad anxiety, some laughing gas will help. I've never needed it during a dentist visit but when I was into racing back in the day, me and my buddies huffed some our nitrous one time and that shit definitely evens you out. If your insurance covers it, you can always request it. Recovery is about ~2 weeks and you'll have some irritation in the gum area. It's the throbbing headaches that cause the most discomfort but nothing some norco couldn't fix. And remember the ice packs to keep the swelling at bay. All in all, aint shit. I was at work the next day, high on norco of course.
Only trippy part is looking in the mirror and seeing two gaping holes where your teeth used to be.

I had two wisdom teeth pulled in a tent, in the middle of a field, at Ft. Hood during a training exercise.
No Novocaine. Just a 'dentist' with a pair of pliers. Took hours.
Best part was, because we were in the field, there was no pain killers.

I wouldn't worry about that. Worst case is you wake up to find you've been repeatedly ass raped and video of it is all over the internet.

Same. Had all 4 yanked in one sitting. Was eating hardy foods in 2 days.
My girlfriend is a true beast though. The other month she had all 4 ripped out, sans anesthetics.
You'll look like a chipmunk for a few days but it'll be far from the most painful thing you've ever experienced. Just go easy on the pain meds dude lol
Gonna overdose on pain killers

I had 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled in December.
I was worried because I've never had a surgery, so when they gave me the option of not going under, I took it. Then I was worried it would be too uncomfortable, but it wasn't bad at all. It took the guy 30 seconds on the first tooth, 10-15 min on the second, and like 5 min on the third. I took the day off work but I probably could've gone back to work in all honesty.
It's really nothing. Just don't cheap out on whom you go to!

Thanks bud. I'm no longer worried as I were. I appreciate everyone's responses. Last time I had surgery done (being put to sleep) when I was around 6-9. I barely recall shit. I'll try to have them put me to sleep.
