He's already the GOAT player.. the time is now to be the GOAT coach. Lakers are at a low point right now with his sudden retirement... If he coaches this team to multiple championships he's in the conversation for GOAT coach.

He could start as an assistant coach and go up the ranks. He wont be a good coach from the get go. But his high bball IQ could translate to good coaching.

Great players usually tend to make lousy coaches.

They lack the patience and understanding that others don't have the same talent and desire that they do.

There are some exceptions, but I doubt Kobe would be one of them. He'd probably want to kill each and every one of his players for laziness, or what he would perceive to be laziness.

As soon as his athleticism went around 2011 he became a cancer, and the lakers have been a joke franchise for the 5 years since, largely due to him.

Why would you want somebody who lacks social skills and self awareness to coach?

Kobe's bball iq isn't that high. He would be worse than Fisher

Instead of 10 year before the Lakers see the playoffs again , under Kobe they would see the playoffs in 2050.

I know you are

A great coach has confidence in his players. When as Kobe had confidence in his teammates?

...who stayed with the Lakers for 20 years and his entire career, through the good and bad.

Kobe?

Assistant? To anything?

But you're right. That's exactly what he should do. But then again 20 years in the league he already knows the game inside out

no pun intended

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Kobe's coaching style is similar to Byron Scott's.
