I will say this: The Spurs buzz is ascendant in a way that is eerily similar to what happened last January at the D-League Showcase, when a half-dozen unconnected team executives warned me over the span of a few days that LaMarcus Aldridge would bolt from Portland for San Antonio. Who knows. At the very least, the Wizards will get a chance to make their pitch.

He'd come off the bench behind Kawhi.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with the fact that he is about to play the Spurs, amirite?

He won't sign with the team that eliminated him from the playoffs.

Doubt that would have any impact on his decision. Not that I think he will sign with the Spurs, but hey.

Will Spurs even have cap space to sign him?

Don't see him signing with a rival though.

I'd rather have Kyrie Irving, but I would not protest Durant.

I hate KD but I liked it when he called Cuban an idiot, so I would entertain this...

That wasn't the same offseason. Iggy did it after losing to the dubs but he isn't a franchise level player.

I remember the last time the Spurs were a bad team. 1989. They've been good ever since.

EDIT: Aside from that one tank year, 1997, which got them Duncan.

Quite frankly, Kawhi is just a better player on the offensive end for the Spurs system. Less selfish, more efficient, better distance shooting, and less obsessed with personal stats.

Durant would have to play the Danny Green role and I have a feeling he won't be down for that.

so do i, i was 12 years old in San Antonio and I watched almost every game. Our best player was rookie Willie Anderson lol.

The next year we got David, Sean Elliott, Terry Cummings and Maurice Cheeks all at once. Then we flipped Cheeks for Rod Strickland during the year.

Imagine how pissed people would be if that happened today haha.

I don't understand, I thought the Morey-Hinkie method was the way to attract and build teams? Turns out players want to play in a winning culture, who would have thought so.

Not sure if serious about being a "Spurs fan" and "rather not" having a Top 3 player on your team.

Yeah they became a powerhouse in one off-season, like the Celtics did in '07. The team was just slapped together.

Cummings was huge for them that year; he had almost as much of an impact as Robinson.

A winning culture created by tanking a season and drafting Tim Duncan.

Look if it's a possibility I'm sure the Spurs could make the right moves to get it done.

What about durant playing SG? I think he could thrive at that role. And he could guard most sgs well.

I think after this season it's time to try and move Parker... If durant wants to come on board then I think moving green would be a good idea as well.
If they can do that, get Diaw back at a discount. Trade for a facilitating pg maybe a younger defensive c. Move off Parker and green. Sign durant. Spurs could have an epic roster

Durant could play PG too.
