Theoretically speaking, it could happen on the Lakers. They only have about $23 million in committed salary next season. If they trade Nick Young for a bottle of Gatorade (which would be a win for the Lakers, BTW), then they'd only have about $18 million. Trading Lou Williams gets them down to $11 million. The 2016-17 salary cap is projected around $89 million with luxury tax at about $108 million, so four near-max contracts would be possible.

A fun dream what-if scenario in NBA2K, anyway.

Max deals for these guys, not that CP3 and Melo are even free agents for several more years, is 30% of 92M or 27.6M this offseason and 30% of 110M or 33M/next year. So you don't have room for 3, much less 4 of them. Then there is the thing where they are in long term deals with their current teams for several more years and your entire roster isn't worth CP3.

Sorry Laker fans. Maybe paying DeRo 5/150 will feel like getting CP3/LeBron/etc.

Why would it improve?

Melo is an idiot and would rather be in the lottery than take a paycut.
CP3's situation has the perfect team built around him.
And if Lebron somehow wins a ring this year he isn't leaving.

The only one probably willing to leave right now is Wade unless they get Durant.
