What you and the OP don't get is we got someone else to do the tanking for us while not picking up a losing identity

Cap space is cap space until it's filled with talent. Brad Stevens is good but anointing him as one of the best coaches in the league is saying a lot for a guy who hasn't won a playoff series yet. Granted, he doesn't have much talent to work with.

Both LA and Minny IMO are in better situations in terms of a rebuild.

Lakers fans assume that their team is gonna buy the stars it needs. But the days of big market teams getting all the top talent are over. Players used to want to play in big markets for the peripheral opportunities it provided them (endorsements and such), but that isn't necessary any more. Players can make money anywhere now. Look at Kevin Durant, he plays a city in the middle of nowhere, and he isn't lacking for exposure. Its not the 90's any more.
