View Full Version : NBA says "right no call was made, Wade was not fouled"

MIAMI -- The NBA said Dwyane Wade was not fouled on Miami's final offensive play of the Heat's loss to the Charlotte Hornets in Game 5 of the teams' Eastern Conference first-round series.

Wade thought he was fouled with 2.6 seconds left, as he tried to tie the score while being defended by the Hornets' Cody Zeller and Courtney Lee. No call came, and the Heat lost 90-88.

"Look, it never is decided by those plays, but from my vantage point, Dwyane certainly looked like he got fouled," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said after the game.

Asked if he had seen a replay, Spoelstra said, "I don't need to. He got fouled."

Wade was even more succinct.

"There's no reason for me to look at it," he said. "It ain't going to change anything. I thought I did [get fouled]. It wasn't called."

But if Wade played for the Warriors....

Towards the end of the article, they admit Wade was hit on the arm but not hard enough for a foul to be called.

yep. Wade was not fouled at all, just because he cries and tried to flop doesn't mean he was fouled.

No referee should call that foul to decide the game. Wade went in to seek a foul.. good for him to come out empty handed. And I like Wade.

This. The league will admit fouls only if it doesn't bare a anything truly significant. That was a potentially series changing foul, so no way they admit it.

This is a good point. I think it was a foul, but Wade is the last person who should complain given the gift of the 2006 NBA Finals.

It's funny, because one of the greatest slashers ever averaged 7.9 FT's a game and Kobe averaged 7.7 over his first 13. Kobe was a bench scrub two of those years, BTW.

at first i was glad that they stepped up and held themselves accountable for mistakes. releasing those post game reviews was a step in the right direction.

but they quickly lost all credibility when they said this, among a few other bull*hit calls, was a good legal screen.

lol at the crying for a foul. The fact Miami is down 3-2 to the least talented team in the playoffs is as pathetic as it gets.

no need to catch feelings lol .. some players just play for the foul more than others, and after many times tricking refs, especially in the clutch, some refs will hold their whistles.

Wade was fouled, but yeah the outcry over this is a lot more than it should be. First of all, although he bounced back somewhat this season, he really has tailed off in the past few years at the foul line. Odds of him knocking down both FTs were likely a little better than a coin toss. And that's just to tie.

Charlotte deserves this series lead. They've outplayed them, and even with no Chris Bosh not many expected it to get to this point. If Miami is worth paying any respect to, they'll find a way to get this back home for a G7 and at least have a chance of reaching this team's absolute ceiling, which is and always was the 2nd round.

This is the dumbest shit ever.

He went in looking for the foul? Then don't foul him. He got fouled. You can't hack a player across the arm. That is a foul.

End of story. Whether he is looking to get fouled or not.

When has Wade tricked the refs? Even on all the outcry over the 2006 series in game 5, there is multiple shots of him getting fouled on that last play. Wade has never fooled the refs into anything. He isn't doing a rip through move like Durant initiating contact, he isn't pushing the ball into the player like Amare and now Harden do, etc.

NBA is losing credibility with all the bullshit calls/non calls that they claim to be the right calls/non call. It feels like they do it to get back at fans for complaining to them. First, they claimed the obvious moving screen by green was the right no call. Then, they released one against the rockets because their GM complained. Now, this ( which was an obvious foul).

Ugh! So it has come to this now? Presenting facts is "catching feelings"?

I totally agree, besides in many other games in similar situations its been called a foul. If anyone pay attention S. Curry got called two fouls in his favor, where he received no real contact.(last came vs spurs) one going to the basket guarded by D. Green and another by K. Leonard. Both shouldn't been no calls and yet Dwayne Wade didn't get this foul.

Yet Andre Iguodala got a called like this even though K. Durant had his hands straight up, unlike like Zeller arms came forwards.

That is some BS reasoning for it not being significant. Over 62% chance is better than 50%, and it is heck of a lot better than the 0% chance he actually got by not getting the free throws at all.

The foul really couldn't have been more obvious, and I would've thought it impossible to deny, considering the fact their is clear evidence showing it to be a blatant foul, but the NBA nothing is beneath the NBA it seems. Wouldn't be surprised if Miami get all the calls tonight to try and push it to 7. The NBA is becoming like WWE. What a joke the clowns running the league are.
