Looks like another one is about to bite the dust...

The price of Gold & Silver is about to go to infinity in the coming years...

Get in now while you can.

SLV - was $45 in 2010.... currently sitting at $16.

When fear gets the best of people... And it will soon...
Where will they run to? Gold & Silver.

What do you expect. They are overpriced and have poor customer service.

Big box stores are dead. Just a waste of space when you can shop online. It doesn't help that they have those huge sign under their shoes that state the prices. At least Footlocker puts the price inside the shoe so you have to actually pick it up.

One glance down their aisle will turn-off any customers.

$150 shoes...$100 shoes....yikes.

Here are some cheaper pairs too. LOL

Places like Walmart, Kmart, and Target have practically identical selections in their sporting departments.

It's two unrelated thing Doomsday. Fewer kids are playing sports and their profit margins aren't what they were expecting and more people are shopping online.

Kmart is dying as well, but Walmart is cheap af bro, that's the difference.

Target is like the "upper class" walmart, where prices are still lower than other places but not as low as walmart to attract the ghetto/white trash herd.

That's just not true. It's the online part, if anything expensive sports gear is being sold more now than ever because of all the academy teams and aau teams around the country, kids need to have the right gear to participate.

But I expect this to be a growing trend.

Why do I expect this? Because my boy Ron Paul said so.

Box stores have to charge a premium due to shelf space.

I ordered an iPhone case for cheaper directly from the manufacturer's website as compared to buying it at a store.

Exactly.

Sometimes I'll be dating a chick, and she'll say "can we drive by Wall Mart
real quick... I need to get whatever"

And I quickly respond: "We can go to Target"

and she'll say: "But it's cheaper at Wall Mart"

and thus I begin to explain the picture above.

I don't shop at either stores but I have no problems with people going to WalMart because its cheaper.

I don't like the idea of big companies trying to rip people off.

They are charging higher prices so people don't have to go to Walmart? Don't be that stupid and if they were doing so....why are people so naive to believe it.

Get your stuff and get out.

Amazon makes all their money online, but I know maybe 12% of revenue for us comes from online sales.

It's growing (wanna say maybe 3% last year) but, depending on your business, a physical store is essential.

Don't get me wrong... It's not like I never go in there.

I shop there from time to time...

If I'm on a mission to save money... I have no problem shopping at Wall Mart.

But I try to avoid that place if I can... Place can be depressing.

False. Eastbay is one of the largest sites for buying sporting goods, and they don't have a physical store.

I'm curious. If all these retail stores close down, and operate exclusively through online sales, who's gonna be able to purchase their products?

They only offering a 10-30% discount on the shit during close out stores too even with the discount shit is cheaper to get online. **** Sports Authority, if you are going under, you best be doing a 50% sale AT LEAST.

Walmart is also the worst place to shop for home furnishings. A while back when I was in an apartment complex I bought a wall mirror. 5 different guests over a 3 week span complemented my on it and said they had the exact same mirror....and two of the chicks lived in my complex.

I shop at Walmart because its closer to me than Target.

The trick is, just go really early, and you avoid the weirdos. Win-win.

Definitely dodged a bullet when I didn't get hired there for a part time job.

The manager I was going to work for was really chill but I remember visiting the store some weekend I had to get something and it was way emptier than the other sports stores I know of in the area. I always heard it was a laidback job because of the small amount of customers on most given days and the fact, some locations didn't let employees work more than 35 hours per week. Pretty cool part time job if you were in high school + college. I'm pretty sure my local Sports Authority were mostly high school/college employees.

I always preferred other sport stores over this too in my local area too so I'm not too surprised that they're struggling.

Sports Authority never changed their business model. I never saw witty or appealing advertisements from them like you see from Dick's or Bass Pro Shops. Odds are that if you walked into a Sports Authority in the last 10-15 years, it was by sheer accident.

Or matter of convenience. Moddells and Dick's are way better.

In my area it's the Mexicans who love WM. They even speak Spanglish over the intercom. :oldlol: Only half the staff seem to be proficient in English. Target tends to be whiter and cleaner.

That being said, I freakin HATE Target. The super Target where I live, and basically everywhere else, doesn't have a good selection of anything. I wouldn't mind paying a little more to go to Target's cleaner stores but their limited selection of stuff is a deal killer. I always find myself having to go to Walmart to get what I want.

False. Eastbay is one of the largest sites for buying sporting goods, and they don't have a physical store.

And Eastbay as a company had revenue 1/5 of what we did.

Also Eastbay is owned by Footlocker, so they can thank Footlocker for their warehousing space. That's why they don't have physical stores.

And as I said, we did about 12% of our sales online, which, coincidentally (like I know what I am talking about or something?) Footlocker can say the same thing:

The Direct-to-Customers segment (12% of revenue) includes Footlocker.com and other affiliates, including Eastbay and CCS, which sell to customers through websites, mobile devices, and catalogs.

Case in point... EastBay had $190m in revenue, while Footlocker as a company had +$7 billion.

Like I said, online sales for big box stores is still just a drop in the bucket, despite what someone told you.

I prefer Target over Walmart where I lived. It's not as claustrophobic as the Walmart. The staff are full of minorities mostly and it's well run. Ton of cashiers so its' easy to get done with shopping.

I love how this thread turned into Target vs Walmart :oldlol:

But honestly, only time I go to Walmart is when I have the munchies. And that's usually late at night, like 11pm/12am. The herd is much smaller, although you risk seeing some fkced up people shopping around for laundry detergent at this time

Like someone else mentioned, pet peeve at Walmart is when they have thirty something odd registers yet only 2 are open....wtf is the point?
