Apparently Lakers are making a push for PG. Given that Vogel has just been release by the Pacers (stupid move) - are the Pacers trying to start fresh

Lakers: would you trade Russell, Randle and unprotected first for PG and Ellis?

Yes. The team chemistry is already ruined by D'Angelo Snitchell.

But I would like to see them keep Randle if they can because he looks like to be a decent All-Star type player in a near future. There aren't many Randle type of PFs nowadays.

Maybe trade Clarkson if Lakers get Ellis in the trade assuming the salary thing works out. Clarkson and Ellis together is just redundant.

I would give up the entire Laker roster for PG to be honest. You can't really place a proper value for a true superstar who is probably good enough to be "the man" on a championship winning team, which PG is. But Bird isn't stupid, why would he trade PG, who is just entering his prime?

I guess the question Bird will have to ask himself is "Is PG worth more than Ingram or Simmons"? Along with that question come "Can Bird dump Ellis' contact along with picking up two (2) legit stars in Randle and Russell?"

Man slow down. PG is really good, I don't know if I would put him as a superstar yet. You willing to bring him to the West where he can't touch the top 4 teams? Warriors, Spurs, OKC, Clips. It's gonna take a lot more than Paul George to get past any of those teams.

Give up the entire Laker roster for him?

Bird knows more than almost anyone else how important it is to have that one superstar. Without that, the chances of winning a title are very slim. He already has that in PG. Getting 2nd fiddles, 3rd wheels and role players are much easier.

And draft picks are always hit or miss. Simmons or Ingram aren't guaranteed greats, like Bron or Shaq coming out. And Russell won't be a star. He might be very good but his lack of athleticism limits his ceiling. Randle might be something special if he REALLY refines his game but that's a big "if".

But I would do your trade in a split second but won't happen. Too good to be true for Lakers.

maybe bird can do the Celtics a solid and trade PG13 to Boston.

I didn't mean the entire roster literally but I would willing to pretty much give up anyone to get him. PG just turned 26. Dude is just about to entire his freaken prime. His ceiling is immensely high. We need that one superstar. It's so much easier to find role players. Also, he's from LA and would be coming home.

And that's a good thing.

Lakers would be giving up too much and the difference would be between be a bad team with PG or be a bad team with a bright future with all the young guys.
PG isn't in the Curry, Lebron and Durant level and Spurs and Warriors prove that you don't win with just one guy nowadays.

Plus, I don't think the Pacers are looking to trade PG.

id be against it. love me some PG, but russell is more or less untouchable to me this summer. really want to see him under luke, for at least one season (the kids shown enough flashes of potential to warrant seeing him under a coach that will use his strengths to his advantage)

IF the lakers knew they could draw interest from the Pacers for their pick and a package of randle + clarkson, and absorbing another indy contract, itd be something for mitch to consider

but gutting all our youth for PG is setting yourself up for trouble, if another free agency strike out summer comes LA's way. I understand the team and its fans are ready to compete NOW. but were at a place where we could swing for the fences this summer, or continue to draft and develop properly and see where this core and its new coach, can eventually get to.

I'm fine with Lakers mortgaging their future for PG. PG will never lead the Lakers past the 1st round.

Paul George just turned 26 3 days ago, he still has a nice chunk of his career left and his true prime. Definitely.

I'd rather do Clarkson instead of the 1st tho, since Ellis takes up Clarkson's spot.
