"J.B. Bickerstaff has had enough of the Rockets.

Yahoo Sports reports that Bickerstaff, who served as Houston's interim coach after Kevin McHale was fired early in the season, has removed himself from consideration for the permanent job.

After a meeting with ownership and the front office on Monday, Houston Rockets interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff has informed team officials he's no longer a candidate for the head-coaching job, league sources told The Vertical.
The Rockets are beginning to line up candidates in what promises to be a wide-ranging search, league sources told The Vertical.

What also is funny is that further in the article it says he'd rather have an assistant job.

So the Houston front office offered him an assistant job....:facepalm

That's uncommon for an interim coach to withdraw his name for consideration for the HC job. Really indicative of the Rockets dysfunction.

Coaching the Rockets is a lot of headaches. How to get through to your star that you have to give effort on defense...

idk how people can still root for the Rockets, they play the ugliest brand of basketball and to top it off are dysfunctional af. For an Intern coach to withdraw his name from consideration?? Unheard of, especially a guy like him who hasn't hit it big with a nice contract yet.

Dude was undrafted in 2001, started coaching in 04 and has been an assistant up till this season. This contract could of paid him more than he earned in his entire life, but he doesn't wanna be apart of that mess. Good luck to the Houston fans, but **** the franchise.

Wow lol

Speaks volumes of the current climate in Houston.

I'm sure JB wants to be a head coach but knows this is a dead end situation. Rather then taking the job and getting fired in 2 years, he'll take an assistant position somewhere else and wait for a better opportunity to show itself.

Smart dude who's playing his cards correctly. We see the opposite happen all the time in this profession...

James Harden = coach killer.
Only one of Harden's coaches has been fired since he joined the league in 2009 (McHale)

JB doesn't wanna coach the Rockets cause he knows his ass won't get hired
