View Full Version : Oakley tells Barkley quit talking shit on Cleveland
Hey Yo
05-06-2016, 12:19 AM
This is stemming from last night's game when Charles said ATL should have taken a Cavs player out (meaning deliberately hurt/injure him) cause he thought the Cavs were pouring it on in the 4th qtr.

Charles Barkley ,you better stop talking s*** about Cleveland you was never tough you hide behind TNT

Tyronn Lue:
"I don't think there's any place in our game to take someone out if they're playing well," Lue said on a conference call with reporters Thursday. "I think you can take it upon yourself to play harder and do things to stop it or stop a team from playing well.
"But when it gets into trying to hurt guys or trying to take guys out, that's just not right. Hopefully the referees will keep an eye on it and make sure it's a clean game. We don't mind if it's a physical game, but clean and everything that they do and we do is basketball related. I don't believe in taking guys out and trying to hurt guys because a team or a player is playing well."

Charles Barkley responds to Charles Oakley who questioned Barkley's toughness: "I don't like him or dislike him; I don't think about him. He's not important enough for me to think about. … He don't like me. I have no idea why."
Barkley already ether'd this, shut it DOWN

When was the last time Oakley got this much attention?
The last time he and Chuck actually fought for real. Oak won't let it go. :oldlol:
this wasn't really fair.
few players were as "tough" as oak. in his eyes, probably every opponent he ever faced was his b1tch.
but barkley was no pu...y.
he was a short dude playing in a giant position, and he went hard at them. you can't be soft if you're a 6'5 power forward in the nba. he averaged 12 boards IN HIS CAREER as a midget-heighted PF. you dont average that many rebounds as a short guy unless you're the aggressor. he used to post up karl malone or shaq like he didnt give a f.

Barkley is one of the tougher guys to ever play in the league, a lot of people forget that since he's basically a clown on TNT, but dude can get serious. He was probably shorter than Kobe and played a big man's game, that should already tell you how strong and physical the dude was.

If you ask a casual fan they will probably guess Barkley was 6'7 or 6'8.
One of the most amazing physical specimens to play. Almost 5" shorter than Blake griffin and yet better at pf.

Barkley pound for pound probably one of the strongest dudes to ever live.
oakley is the kind of dude who would probably challenge barkley to a fight if they were 80 years old and both sitting in a wheelchair in an elderly home.
but is that "tough" or just mentally obtuse? :lol

Oakley is trying to suck up to the NBA and media to gain some kind of relevance. He knows they are both backing the Cavs
What a sad little man, bandwagon hopping like that

I agree. Charles also like people said, was no punk. He stuck up for teammates and he I remember that preseason game against Oakley. Oakley is a big swole dude and Charles went at him without thinking.
Oakley also got ass busted one on one repeatedly by Charles too.

Oakley would destroy him if they fight this year.

There seems to be a consensus on Oakley being a complete badass. Even Bill Simmons talked about it in his Book of Basketball. Quotes from multiple players about how Oak will just **** you up. He was good friends with MJ too and was even his bodyguard of sorts. But, while calling a playoff game between Bulls-Knicks in 1992, this is what Doug Collins said "Charles gives you that gruff exterior, but inside he's really a pus sy cat". And he coached the guy for 2 seasons in '87 and '88, so he would know.

Anyone can be soft and gentle but if you f**k with them, a switch can be turned on and dude pounds your ass.
The more often scenario is a dude acts all tough, gets people scared of him but once someone stands up to him, he backs down.

For the uneducated, Oakley WAS one of the toughest dudes during his run. Took no quarter and gave none. Very few stood up to him, but I give Barkley props for not backing down. Oakley is still salty for getting shipped out for Camby.

FYI, Oakley had burned thru his Technical allotment for the year. Which was highly publicized and Rodman knew. Knicks could not afford him losing a game.
If you had followed the team back then, you would know Charles was anything BUT timid.
