And you were the GM. Who would you rather have as a cornerstone to build around, Lillard or Westbrook? First option, second option, doesn't matter. All day, I'm taking Dame. Less out of control, skill-set justifies his play-style far more, less mistake prone, far more clutch, way better shooter, also highly athletic, the list goes on. The gap in rebounding (massive) and defense doesn't make up for Westy's unforgivable drawbacks.

I agree with that. But if you had to choose I'm saying.

As a prisoner of the moment i'd take Lillard.

Westbrook definitely will have the higher ceiling/potential but much more unstable. Dame would be the SAFE choice but not the BEST choice.

Westbrook. Lillard is a better shooter and clutch player, but everything else it's Westbrook.

Dame but I wouldn't want both to be the best players on my team. However, I would take Dame because he is way less out of control and can actually play like Steph sometimes.

Lillard keeps improving and will actually buy into a real offensive system. He has much higher basketball iq and is much more composed and more of a leader. Westbrook might impact the game in more ways but he is too much of a wildcard. Westbrook doesn't make his teammates better. He doesn't provide spacing and off ball play like Lillard. Westbrook is a low iq undersized shooting guard who doesn't play good defense.....its hard to win with a player like that playing huge minutes, straight up. Lillard fits better into a championship-team caliber system.

I would take Lillard, but I'm bias, because he's one of my favorite players. I think Lillard is a better 2nd or 3rd option than Westbrook, if only because Lillard is more likely to accept the role, and defer to the superior player/s. I don't think you can win a title with either of these guys as your best player or 1st option. Of course, I would have said you can't win a title with Curry as your 1st option just a couple years ago, so, I guess 'anything is possible' (in KG voice).

It's a good point. It's unlikely but it's a lot more possible. I don't think many people would have thought that a team with a number one option of Billups (and in terms of total PPG, led by Rip Hamilton) would have won a ring either, but they were so well-put together that it happened. On the other hand there are damn near zero instances throughout history of a Westbrook type being the first option on a title team. The closest thing is Kobe, who was FAR more skilled and worthy of his enormous usage rate.
