2011 was the only season he had to beat a decent team to get there (Celtics), and Wade was the best player in that series.

2011 Bulls were a legitimate opponent too. Since then though his competition in the East has been a joke

And? His team's been a 1 seed most of those years I'm guessing and most 4 and 8 seeds are not going to be 50 win teams...

2nd seed in 11, 12 & 13

and who cares if they were the first seed? The first seeded Lakers from 08-10 played five 50+ win teams to make those 3 straight conference finals.

The Bulls were legit but I was talking about the first 2 rounds, the path to the ECF. Even as a Heat fan I can admit it was pretty smooth sailing every year except 2011. The Pacers pushed us to 6 in 2012 but that was mainly due to Bosh's injury.

So he's only beaten 2 50 win teams???? Because as the 2 seed i'm sure he had to go through the #1 seed.

2011 think the Bulls won 60 or was that the year after, pretty sure the Celtics won 50+

2012 Rose goes down, can't remember if the Celtics were at a 50 win rate.

2013/14 pretty sure the Pacers were at a 50 win rate both seasons

And last year the Hawks were a 60 win team

this shit isn't really impressive for reasons people listed. Still no matter how bad a conference is, James is most likely going make 10+ conference finals for his career which is pretty rare.

50 wins is an arbitrary number

why not 45 wins or 47

NBAGOAT
05-09-2016, 02:47 AM
Absolutely pathetic.

I looked Magic and Bird up just to see. Magic wasn't surprising at 2 for his career but Bird only had 6(Lebron's at 5 fyi). Ik it's kind of disingenuous since 1st half of the 80's only had 2 rounds and bird and magic almost always on teams that were top 2 seeds but still.

if Heat get past the Raptors, the Cavs will face zero 50-win teams on the road to the Finals :oldlol:, and it's not like the Raptors are going to be a threat because they just lost their starting Center/2nd best player to a season-ending injury, Miami lost Bosh and Whiteside to injuries.

sad how people look at his body of work, his consistency, and still talk down on him.

i suppose in the 80's there were people saying bird and magic were overrated.

i suppose in the 70's there were people saying oscar robinson was overrated.

i bet there were even people in the 60's saying the celtics were overrated.

it takes all kinds up here on the information superhighway, this vast series of tubes.

The most amazing thing about that stat, it's so EASY to be a 50 win team in the east, you play against garbage most of the time, see hawks 60 win season, and yet...

People aren't kidding when they say east is a joke. SO yeah a $175 million dollar team reaching the east conference finals, what a feat :applause:

No wonder Lebron get cramps when he faces real competition.

Not everubody is built like Bron. Curry will never be able to do that even tho he is getting carried to another WCF by his teammates. His glass ankles won't survive that many minutes.

well, you dont really play alot of 50 win teams before the CF's... but yeah, Im sure he would have taken it up with those Boozer/Williams Jazz :lol

Ehh

2014-2015 had 7 50 win teams in the West
2013-2014 had 7 50 win teams in the West
2009-2010 had 7 50 win teams in the West
2008-2009 had 6 50 win teams in the West
2007-2008 had 8 50 win teams in the West
2004-2005 had 6 50 win teams in the West
2003-2004 had 6 50 win teams in the West
2002-2003 had 6 50 win teams in the West
2000-2001 had 7 50 win teams in the West

Without taking into account upsets that may have occured there was generally 2-3 50 wins vs 50 wins playoff series before the conference finals those years

Also didn't count the 5 50 win teams seasons where 4th and 5th seed would have faced off in the first round

So in summary, roughly 2-3 out 6 playoff series before the WCF were between 2 50 win teams

Also 2007-2008 West was INSANE damn, every playoff series out West was two 50 win teams, crazy

he didn't the Celtics from 11 the Bulls from last year. I replied to someone else about this already but looked up bird and magic for fun. Magic wasn't too surprising at 2 but bird only having 6 kind of was. Also, MJ has 11 and Kobe dominates this stat by a lot with like 20(but as you said teams like the Jazz or injured Rockets pop up).
