Based on my analytical team, only 01 Kobe had an argument but I side with kawhi because Horace grant had the better drpm and was the more impactful player
Can't wait to watch game 4 when I get home from work. Kawhi will be doing WORK

kawhi's will to score is weak .. if he cant blow by you or get an open midrange J within a few dribbles he gives up and looks to defer. He cant just.. dominate a defender in single coverage over and over. He has to be in the right place at the right time and use one or two scripted , but effective moves. little to no creativity either.
oh the horror

Talking to your mother about basketball doesn't count as an "analytical team" dude. Get out more. Meet some friends.

Kobe fans, remember when some of your more stannish brethren trolled MJ fans after MJ's last retirement? Remember we told you it would come back to you?
Them chickens are coming back to roost now.
Bron fans, you're next.

Kawhi was 12/21 from the field with only 1 turnover tonight, representing a ws48 of 13 when extrapolated to a full season, higher than bryants career best mark
It put his team in a strong position to win the game

What the hell are you talking about.
Care to bump some of those threads from 03?

Who knows with Jordan stans. They were afraid of Kobe, they were/are afraid of LeBron, and now they're afraid of Curry. None of those guys rank over their guy, so it's odd.

2009 Kobe > 2016 Kawhi
Kawhi is still a system player. At least we saw Kobe do it in two different systems and teams.

Not really, it was 2000 when Kobe was 22 years old, and it was Shaq's one man show. Kobe only became relevant since 2001, and he was 23 then.

WS and WS/48 also say Bryant was better than Peak Shaq in the 01 playoffs.
RAPM says Bryant was better than Shaq for the season ( playoffs included)
Your arguments are terrible.

It's a good thing basketball is a sport and not a circle jerk session for stat nerds.

What a great one man show indeed....Oh wait.certainly was.a 1 man show in the finals when Shaq had to carry a 40% shooter for the umpteenth time.
Regarding OP, I do think current Kawhi is a notch better than prime Kobe. Any diff in offense is relatively negligible compared to the overwhelming advantage Kawhi has on defense. It's close, but I'm going with Kawhi overall.
Which goes to show how good Curry currently is, because he's miles ahead of both of them.

This forum is so dumb now, Leonard isn't even better than 13 Kobe let alone anywhere near prime Kobe.

Maybe the simplest answer is the correct answer - that he really was better than Shaq in the 01 playoffs.

Kobe age 22 led the most dominant Playoff team of all time in +/- and winshares and put up b2b 45+/10+ games on the road vs Kings/Spurs
what's Kawhi's career high again? I'm pretty sure Kobe averaged that when they swept through the West with 4 straight road games vs Kings/Spurs.
game, blouses.

Only reason kawhi became overrated in this forum was because some of your fellow Kobe fan boy over hyped his performance in the 2014 NBA Finals. And now he's being ranked higher than Kobe by the Kawhitards in this forum.

Here's the real answer: the box-score only covers a small sliver of performance and impact.
Using box-score derived all-in-one stats like PER/WS/WS48 as anything more than a rough look at player performance is hilariously shortsighted and frankly silly.
