View Full Version : I've seen enough - LMA is not a leader

Yeah, he is great at hitting mid range jumpers, sort of a lesser prime Dirk, but LMA does not impact the game in nearly the same way as other great players.

He rarely if ever makes defensive stops, he rarely finds someone on a cut.

In short Aldridge is not the kind of player who will make a defensive stop and then set up a teammate on the next posession.

Not a game changer, not a leader.

Spurs will struggle if they want him to take over in close games.

He has been like that since his Trailblazers' days. :confusedshrug:

The Spurs knew what they were getting from him when signing him.

I don't think the Spurs organization expect Aldridge to change his game much. If anyone has the potential to become a "true" game changer. It's Leonard.

They didn't sign him to be the lead dog. That will soon be Kawhi.

I've been saying this for some time. If SA wants to detrone GS, they will need LMA to dominate. They need him to force GS to double which will free his teammates for open shots. And they will need him to be a deterent defensively. To force GS to win it or lose it on jumpshots alone. But he's just not that guy.

Unless Duncan is playing possum, I don't see how SA can beat GS.

Unless Duncan is playing possum

He is. We're trying to keep it a secret, but OKC is pushing our hand...

Spurs leader other than rahrah Duncan was and still is their point guard moving the ball in rotation around the arc.

The replacement for Parker will be a very big deal for the Spurs.

Does Dirk make defensive stops?

Does Dirk make defensive stops?

No and the only time he won was when he had the DPOY at center and an all time great defensive point guard.

Dirk is much better than LMA too.

LMA is basically a role player, a very good one, but still a one dimensional role player who can give you bulk scoring but little else.

Agree on offense but you're underrating his defense this year..

Neither is kawhi. Pop always been the leader for SA with Manu 2nd in command

Come to think of it dudes like Steph , Russ, _avis, har_en ain't leaders either. It's a weak era for leadership..... They noy LEGEND. Hopefully KGs leadership rub off on Towns

I agree with you but am wondering what you think makes Dirk another level than LMA. Aldridge can put it in the hoop like Dirk when he's feeling it and they are both nearly the same size.

Kawhi does look for the right play in crunch time, he just isn't a good enough ball handler yet to get it done.

I think it's a big mistake if Pop doesn't trust Duncan, he might generally not play well, but he will hit that bank shot in crunch time as he has done so many times.

Parker is still the on court leader on that team and again should get more plays, he had a great season.

All in all, Spurs are relying on two guys in Kawhi and LMA and their ball movement have suffered.

Dirk has more moves and a 3 point shot. He is also more mobile.

Well Leonard is the leader, LMA is the sidekick. LMA doesnt need to be a leader, hes not the leader anyway.

Very few people are leaders. Just because one might be the best player on his team, doesn't mean hes a leader.
