Stephen Hawking: 'AI could spell end of the human race'

We are headed for some interesting times indeed...

The A.I. stuff is gonna come out of nowhere... But eventually it's going
to be our number one concern.

It's not walking/talking robots that I'm necessarily speaking about either...
although that kind of stuff may reveal it's self one day...

I'm talking about this kind of $hit:

Give it a few more years... you'll see.

Well certain theories suggest ETs gave us this technology
in the first place.

So idk... we may still have to deal with:

Humans like playing with fire it seems. Even if the risk is small, I can't see how it's worth it.

Just like the Hadron Collider, even if the chances are small that a mini black hole would be created, humans just went along with it, never mind the thousands of nukes all over the world that could wipe us all out :facepalm

Good comments from Dresta & TheMan... :applause:

Not gonna post any conspiracy videos...

But trust me when I say this... A.I. is not something to take lightly.
Don't trust me? Well then trust the smartest guy on the planet: Stephen Hawking.

It will have a tremendous impact on all of our lives in the near future.

I don't make jokes about SkyNet... everyone else does... I do not.

https://theaviationist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Skynet.jpg

Let me say this though.... With everyone online... Don't you think all the information
compiled on everybody in some super computer could form some advanced algorithm to determine who would win a presidential election?

If Democracy isn't tampered with... and elections aren't rigged...

isn't it still entirely possible for the NSA to have an accurate prediction on
how the people are going to vote?

If a computer can read patterns in a individuals behavior... then it can predict
it's future...

apply that same logic to a society...

So in essence... Spying on a billion people's cell phones doesn't bother me from
an individual stand point. It bothers me that they are gathering information on
everybody. And that kind of info... can be too much power if it falls in the wrong hands.

And who's hands will it eventually fall in? The Artificial Intel it's self.

That was never a risk, actually.

There is this scary conspiracy theory called you're an idiot, it's when someone logs onto Insidehoops just to post about conspiracy theories. Scary bro, just give it 5 years, and it'll be worse.

The moment that genuine artificial intelligence comes in contact with the Internet is the moment that we're ****ed because the rate at which it would gather information, evolve, decentralize itself and further its own intelligence would be so incredibly mind-blowing that we wouldn't be able to keep up. Additionally, the idea that it would come to any conclusion other than the fact that human beings have got to go is preposterous and wishful thinking.

By the way, the military made skynet a real thing. It's not just in the movies.

The scenario that plays out in the terminator movies would be child's play compared to the real horrors that would be carried out.

Why? Why would it have any motives of it's own at all? Why would it care if humans exist or not? Because we could potentially delete it? Why would it even care if it was deleted?

I can buy that we are capable of creating AI, but I do not buy that the AI would have actual feelings or motives to do things on it's own or even be truly self aware of it's own existence. It would just be a program that is capable of learning...it would be code...0001110100101011111001101000...it would not have an actual consciousness

I'm no expert here....

But some of the videos I've seen on the subject are actually pretty scary...
And many of them do share similar believes as Orlando Magic just described.

A movie I have not watched yet would probably answer your question:

I should have specified consciousness. What causes consciousness, anyways? A certain level of intelligence being reached?

But in any event, we've got to go because we are the single worst virus on the ****ing planet. Human beings are infinitely worse than aids, ebola, etc
