Is how he led his team to the 2002 east finals. He was an up and coming star to that point and it was cool to see him pull out that headband that year for the first time, overcoming odds. What do you like about 02 Paul pierce?

I really liked that whole team. A more efficient Antoine and better two way PG would have led us to finals that year.
02 PP was lazier defensively and had his chucking moments. He definitely was a top 10 player arguable to me.

When I played ball, I was a decent athlete (very average) and I couldn't relate to doing the things Vince,Kobe, and Tmac did. Pierce was probably the easiest to try and emulate because all his moves were fundamental. Rarely got his shot blocked despite not jumping as high as Tmac and Vince.
Had a spin move but wasn't exactly as fast on dribble drives as Kobe.
I remember practicing his step back jumper for an hour straight mimicking his follow through. He began shooting flatter jumpers after the 2008.

he'd be a stat-padding (edit: let's use over-achieving) failure if it wasn't for his collusion with KG and Jesus!
am I doing it right, Real14? :lol :lol

Yea before 2008, Pierce was still hated when he played my knicks but I had to respect him as a star and a team leader.

Glad he got a ring. Dude is still going to get mad underrated after he's retired. He was an incredible player. His offensive arsenal was impressive. He was one of the best players to watch in the NBA if you wanted to become a scoring guard yourself.

East was garbage in those times like they are today, and correct me if I'm wrong I remember Pierce choking on the FT line in that series vs NJ.

worse so that it is today. It's staggering how little help Pierce got and kind of surprised he doesn't get more credit for it. Antoine defined a chucker.

Yea I know, I did too. Even rookie no headband fade Pierce who hit all those 3s on us early 99 at the garden. 2002 Pierce was the only time that I respected him like that.
Respect. Pierce is a great player. Hate to see where he's at now. Can't BELIEVE he's not a Celtic. Biggest shock.

Well Pierce and the Celtics gave us a run for the money in ECF, coming back from a huge deficit in game 3 and took a 2-1 series lead. The better team prevailed still, the Nets won 3 straight and advanced to NBA finals with a 4-2 series victory over the Celtics.
