Well, he clearly doesn't belong to be named alongside those guys anyways.

He's in the second tier. The Big O's, Jerry West's, and Julius Erving's.

at 6-3 and 185 lbs he doesn't play with SF well.

Is the league deep at PG? it really depends on how many coaches are willing to the hand the PG the key to the team.

Jordan was a FAR better shooter than Curry inside 20 feet:

.....................MJ 1997 (http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/893/stats/shooting/?Season=1996-97&SeasonType=Regular%20Season)...................Cur ry 2015 (http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/201939/stats/shooting/?Season=2014-15&SeasonType=Regular%20Season)............ Curry 2016 (http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/201939/stats/shooting/) <--- link to nba.com data

5-9 ft.......... 49.2%, 126 fga........... 40.3%, 72 fga.......... 48.6%, 72 fga

10-14 ft....... 51.5%, 466 fga........... 52.9%, 85 fga.......... 50.9%, 57 fga

15-19 ft....... 49.5%, 594 fga........... 43.9%, 132 fga........ 37.3%, 102 fga

Overall midrange % (all shots inside the 3-point line but outside the paint)

JORDAN 1997:. 49.3%, 1202 fga
CURRY.. 2015:. 41.1%, 285 fga
CURRY.. 2016:. 42.5%, 200 fga

Btw, Jordan and Curry's good shooting isn't needed to be a top scorer in today's game - Lebron, Westbrook, Wade, Derozan and Butler all have poor 3-point AND midrange efficiency (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12338297&postcount=47), yet they're still the top wing scorers because today's wide open spacing and hands-off defense allows easier access to the rim than ever before.

Today's spacing and hands-off defense would benefit MJ the same way, except he had documented (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11713011&postcount=43) goat midrange efficiency, which would put him in Curry's category as a goat shooter, and give him a similarly massive advantage over non-shooters Lebron, Westbrook and company.

He could've left out either Bird or Curry. Kobe literally retired like a month ago and the media talked about him for like a week straight. Whatever though. I agree with you that it's not a slight at Kobe. Curry wouldn't disrespect a legend like Kobe.

Curry shouldn't be compared to players like Jordan, who didn't have teammates spreading the floor for him like Curry does - teams only attempted 5 threes per game when Jordan won his first ring in 1991, compared to 25 attempts per game for today's teams.

So today's player benefits from teammates that space the floor and cause defenders to cover more ground - three-point shooters benefit the most from scrambling defenders, which is why 80% of today's 3-pointers (including Curry's) are "open" or "very open", as described on NBA.com's stats page (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12360926&postcount=37).

Otoh, Jordan achieved his stats WITHOUT teammates spreading the floor.. In today's spaced-out game, his stats would explode because he has the same (better) athleticism as Lebron/Westbrook, but they can't shoot (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12338297&postcount=47), and Jordan could - he had goat midrange efficiency, much better than Curry's (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11713011&postcount=43), which puts him in Curry's category as a goat shooter, and gives him a similarly massive advantage over non-shooters Lebron and Westbrook.

if we change the salary mode to NFL, how many teams would be willing to pay Steph Curry for 20 mil a year.

If we throw in the lux cap raise, than 20 mil isn't anything, but if teams are still having to keep the salary under the cap before tax comes in. The 7-8th seeds are up for grab.

how dumb is ISH

He was naming a few of the MULTIPLE time MVP winners

Kobe has one MVP

Not discrediting Kobe just naming other guys

He only mentioned Shaq because Shaq was asking him the question and he probably assumed Shaq was a multiple MVP winner and even since Shaq isn't... it creates a good rapport with Shaq who is the interviewer since Shaq isnt gonna fact check Steph while Steph is trying to compliment a pure alpha GOAT who has less MVPs than Steph even though Shaq was much better.

Also.. being a two time MVP winner is a much bigger deal to Steph than being a unanimous MVP so im sure for the past week or two when he found out he was gonna win the award and all the talk on ESPN was in mentioning other 2x+ MVP winners where I personally know I heard Nash, Bron, MJ, Bird, etc. being mentioned this week in context to Steph Curry winning MVP and Im sure he's been told the multiple time MVP winner list this week all week by reporters and the like as well

So yeah, in this context Kobe doesn't get mentioned because he has one MVP
