View Full Version : Who else is relieved that the Spurs are OUT?

As good as the Spurs are, they are not that interesting, even from a pure and analytic basketball perspective.

Spare the "You don't appreciate sound, fundamental basketball" talk. It's so refreshing that we will have an entertaing, high-octane, star-studded conference championship series. So looking forward to this.

This "conventional wisdom" that the Spurs are boring to watch is such horse shit. They've been a fun team to watch for years now, but people just say they're boring because that's how it used to be and it's easy to just repeat shit than to realize things have changed. See also: Lebron being a career loser.

They're really not that fun to watch this year. This year's Spurs are nowhere near the free-flowing, crazy smooth offensive juggernaut from 12, 13, 14. I don't know where this intellectual bball fan shtick of "if you don't like watching the Spurs you're not a real bball fan" came from but the Spurs have legitimately been boring as f*ck quite often this year.

This. The Spurs played a LOT of 2, 3-man ball this year and have been overly reliant on their younger, athletic stars. However, it's overlooked because of their pedigree.

I am relieved because I HATE RING CHASERS.
Aldridge abandoned a good not great team in Portland to join a super team who won 5 rings, arguably the best coach and a Final's MVP 2 years back.
BTW, how sleazy they did it by colluding with their ex Assistant in coach Bud to absorb Splitter's 8/year contract so they can dump salary and still pay LMA.
I hate David West who could have given the Pacers 15 pts and 9 rebs but instead chose to play back up to old Timmy.

GSW are going to load up on KD and Westbrook and the other players don't have the same advantages against the Warriors.

Thunder just match up well with SAS, but not so well with GSW (Spurs were the better match up).

I like the Spurs because they remind me of the teams I grew up watching, i.e., histrorically correct basketball.

Watching the Warriors jack up 82 three pointers a game doesn't do it for me. Watching Durant and Westbrook play hero ball doesn't either (and that's what they will have to do next series as the scrubs [everyone except KD and RW] wont have any matchup advantage against GS).

As much as it surprises me to say so, the Cavs are actually the closest thing we have left to the type of team I like (and I am hardly a LeBron fan).

I would love it if Toronto made the finals though. Rain on the parade.
