I was raised on 90's Hip-Hop. In fact, I was part of 90's Hip-Hop... and every popular, mainstream Rap artist in the 90's had mostly white fans. Black people only make up 12% of the population. You're not gonna be a mainstream anything in the U.S. just relying on Black fans.
