He didn't surpass him this year because it already happened.

How is Duncan ahead of Kobe when he destoyed Duncan and the Spurs in all their meetings in the Playoffs except for 2 series in 1999 and 2003?

THIS
Kobe destroyed the Spurs in the Playoffs for most of his career. Won b2b and has a three-peat under his belt. Duncan never even won b2b titles. Know why? Kobe 2004 and Kobe again in 2008.

More Finals MVP, and 1 more regular season MVP. Not a huge fan of Team Duncan, but he never missed the playoffs in his 19th year NBA Career.

1 more FMVP
You want to tell me Kobe didn't play better than 05 Duncan in 01 or 02 Playoffs? Duncan 05 had the worst TS% for any Finals MVP.
1 more regular season MVP, big deal...Shaq won 1 MVP too, Shaq got robbed in 05 and Kobe got robbed in 06.
never missed the Playoffs - always had at least one HOFer and Gregg Popovich on his team...averaged 8.9 points in 25mpg, played in 60 regular season games and his team had their franchise best regular season record
Kobe won 5 rings in a shorter time span than Duncan, took Bryant 14 seasons (7 Finals appearances, 5 titles in 11 seasons with Phil as his coach) while it took Duncan 17 (6 Finals appearances, 5 titles in 19 seasons with Pop as coach).

Well the Lakers had better team than the Spurs each time they won, similarly Spurs had better team when they won. Basketball is a team sports, the better team won. Kobe never destroyed Duncan, if anyone actually did it would be Shaq anyway.
Lets face it, since Duncan's rookie season he has always ranked higher on the all-time list than Kobe every year. Kobe had his chance in 2011 to surpass Duncan but he blew it, while Duncan's 2014 title nailed the final coffin of this comparison.
In a word, Kobe is not only below Duncan, but also a tier below Duncan. Duncan is top 10 without a doubt, Kobe is not top 10. You need to chill and deal with it.

Foreign or inner city? I think you meant to say, "In other words". Regardless, they're both top 10. Using the 2014 title as the proverbial "nail in the coffin" is incredibly weak minded considering Duncan was at best the third best player on that team behind Leonard and Parker. Possibly even behind Ginobili (not to mention it's the chip he needed to tie Kobe. If we're going to glorify Duncan's 2014 chip as 4th best player, you better glorify Kobe's first 3 chips as 1b.)

4th best player, how so? To me hes still the 2nd best player on the team, or no less than the 3rd best player. Also Kobe in 2000 Lakers team was just a role player, it was essentially Shaq's one man show. Kobe wasnt much more important than Robert Horry on that Lakers team.

Duncan had more help on the 08 Spurs squad than Kobe. Manu/Parker/Bowen/Barry > Pau/Odom/Fisher
08 series went 5 games but both teams had blowout wins against eachother and Kobe led Lakers with 4th quarter comebacks in Game 1 and Game 5
Kobe destroyed Duncan in that series and proved he's a tier above him as a player. Duncan can put up his 20/10 and be a system player but when it came to winning the series/game Kobe attacked and scored over him in the paint with ease, it wasn't even close.
2009/10 was the time when everyone said Kobe was top 5 all-time and he was heavily voted above Duncan as the player of the decade by both fans and analysts. Duncan finally tying the ring count 4 years later as a role player doesn't change a thing.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/340253-kobe-bryant-player-of-the-decade-in-the-nba
and this is an article from a Kobe hater
and FYI, Kobe received 58% of the votes, Lebron was 2nd with 17%, Shaq got 15% and Duncan got 8% :oldlol:

2013-14 Regular season
Duncan 15.1 pts 9.7 rebs 3 asst 1.9 blks
Leonard 12.8 pts 6.2 rebs 2 asst 1.8 stls
Manu 12.3 pts 3 rebs 4.3 asst
2014 Playoffs
Duncan 16.3 pts 9.2 rebs 2 asst 1.3 blk
Leonard 14.3 pts 6.7 rebs 1.7 asst 1.7 stl
Manu 14.3 pts 3.3 rebs 4.1 asst 1.6 stl
Please show me where Leonard and Manu were better than Duncan in 2014. Maybe you only remember the last 3 games of the Finals and not the entire regular season and playoffs.

You can keep arguing, but wont change the fact that Duncan has been higher than Kobe on all-time list ever since he entered the league. Duncan is unquestionably a top 10 player of alltime, while Kobe is not top 10 in many people's list. You need to deal with it, Kobe never was and never will be better than Duncan.

I think at this point it's well established amongst basketball fans that Duncan ranks solidly ahead of Kobe. Only pathetic, chromosome missing, dickriding, no girlfriend having Kobe ******gers think otherwise.
