This has been in the works for a few months now. I've partnered with the analytics department from Princeton to bring you this revolutionary way to look at and quantify NBA defensive contribution of individual players within a team. It takes the best defensive statistics, and collaborates them to give you the best possible analysis known today..
For example... 2016:

I will note, it is hard to compare statistics across eras
This is just the 1.0 Version of the statistic
Perhaps the formula will be more refined when statistical errors and deficiencies arise
Era specificity is one of them, and I will need to address
But at the bottom of this, it's just a statistic
It is to be used in conjunction with other objective measures as well as the famed eye test.

Very nice. Can this statistic be used to win arguments?
It can
It's fairly accurate
Improvements will be made in the future, to address era specificity and introduction of more defensive variables to give a more accurate objective analysis

this stat(if it even is one) seems to have a pretty big emphasis on team defensive rating. It's why Russell is so high since Celtics were easily the most dominant defense of all time. Also why 04 Duncan and 04 Big Ben are a little higher than the rest and why Kawhi is so high for a perimeter player..
Edit: 16 Millsap and 16 Horford

Good defensive teams tend to have exceptional defenders
I will update the equation with more individual factors.. Going to add in an individual % based off of team DWS and how much the individual contributed to that
Essentially right now it is just a defensive win share total in an efficiency format taking into account court time, and a few other factors. What I have noticed is some outliers with regards +- defensive statistics. Will address that as well.
