Payton and Mcmillan get credit for Michaels disappointing game 4-6 performances but it wasnt Michael performing at that level until George Karl switched Hawkins onto him. Especially the 4th quarters where hed shut Michael down. For example he held him scoreless from the field in game 5 in the 4th.
If Hersey had been defending Michael with the rotations Karl went with later on Seattle couldve had a decent shot of winning that series.............Hersey not only had the footwork to keep up with Michael he was one of the best athletes in the NBA (reported 42 inch vertical and reported something else with inches more than MJ..............)

Jordan was the hero of Game 6.
He had 22/9/7 and he held Hawkins to 4 points, which was 12 points below his average.
This is significant because the Bulls WON by 12 and everyone else let their man GO OFF - Schrempf destroyed Pippen for 23 points on 59%.. Payton destroyed Harper for 21 points on 70%.. and Kemp destroyed Rodman for 18/10 on 47%.
Also, Jordan's performances weren't "disappointing" because they came in garbage time - Jordan had gotten the Bulls a 3-0 lead by averaging 31 ppg on 46% in Games 1-3

Defensive stats are tough on point guards
Probably a reflection of how the bigger positions on the court naturally have more defensive influence

Rodman was the REAL FMVP and his insane rebounding won the Chicago Bulls the series
MJ averaged 24/5/3 with 4 turnovers in 37% shooting and 11% from 3:yaohappy:
Thankfully Rodman was CONSISTENTLY great with his rebounding, GOAT screens, hustle and playmaking:applause:

Pretty damn good. So we can surmise from your stat that Russell's defensive was equal to Jordan + Pippen + Kobe.
Or you could say that Russell on defense was like having current Kawhi and peak Lebron on defense.

MJ wasnt known for his footwork like Kobe. He was the technical savant that Bean was.

Jordan was in vacation-planning mode because his 31 ppg on 46% had already gotten the Bulls a 3-0 lead, while the Sonics were in adrenaline-inspired, save-some-face, desperation mode.
Jordan's overall stats weren't great: 27/5/4 on 43%
It's useless to bring up Jordan's worst playoff series, since they're FAR better than anyone else's worst series.. :confusedshrug:
Seriously, have you ever compared Jordan's worst playoff series to that of Lebron or Kobe?... It's AMAZING - Jordan averages 27-32 ppg on sub-40% shooting, compared to 15 and 17 ppg for Lebron and Kobe, on even worse shooting..
Jordan never averaged less than 27 ppg in a playoff series, but here's the most insane, amazing thing: no all-time great led their team in scoring for every playoffs series of their careers - EXCEPT Jordan, who led his team by at least 10 ppg for every series.. Let that sink in - Jordan was on another level from all other players (edit: there were 2 series where he led his team by 7 ppg and 5 ppg).

You realize that actually makes Jordan look bad, right?

There's nothing wrong with Jordan averaging 31 ppg on 46% to get a 3-0 lead, and then coasting the rest of the way.. You might not realize it, but the weary Jordan carried a massive load in 1996, bigger than Curry's in 2016: Jordan produced a higher proportion of his team's points and assists on less turnovers, while also carrying a far bigger load on defense as well.
Btw, Jordan's worst playoff series are FAR better than anyone else's worst series - have you ever compared Jordan's worst playoff series to that of Lebron or Kobe?... It's AMAZING - Jordan never averaged less than 27 ppg on sub-40% shooting, compared to 15 and 17 ppg for Lebron and Kobe, on even worse shooting..
But here's the most amazing thing: no all-time great led their team in scoring for every playoffs series of their careers - EXCEPT Jordan, who led his team by at least 10 ppg for every series.. Let that sink in - Jordan was on another level from all other players (edit: there were 2 series where he led his team by 7 ppg and 5 ppg).
