Of course, it's easy for rich scumbag politicians to support such things, because they aren't the ones that face the consequences; likewise with mass immigration, trade deals, extortionate taxation, and so on.

This ruling class really has no common bond or common interest with the masses of people; America's political system is pretty much dead already.

Maudlin female sentimentality has most certainly ruined western politics faster than it would otherwise have been ruined.

Their semi-hysterical "something must be done attitude" is now completely entrenched, so that "something" is done even when it is far more harmful than doing nothing; it's like they don't understand that doing nothing is doing something. See any call-in show in Europe on the migrant crisis, for example ("OMG, a child died: we have to do something!!"--or in America after every mass shooting: "we can't just sit back and do nothing!!!").

Emotion and politics don't mix well.
