I think the Sixers will pick Simmons over Ingram. They want to make him a point guard forward..like Micheal Carter Williams.

Yeah they should, you always take the best player available from the draft, regardless of your rosters need. You can trade him for better packages after the draft, you have nothing to lose.

Agreed.

Ingram has 25PPG potential while being able to play defense. He's also younger.
Philly is going to take Ingram. They need a wing scorer...
LA and Simmons makes the most sense because they will want to make him the Green/ Diaw on steroids for that offense.

Philly would be stupid to give up their 1st pick like that. If LA wants Simmons so bad and viceversa maybe Sixers should just trade 1st for LA's 2nd and '17 1st round.

sixers are in an awkward spot given that they have too many bigs and simmons potentially being the best player in the draft. so do they go BPA or fit? if BPA, they draft simmons at one, trade okafor or noel to boston for 3 and filler and draft heild at 3. gives them their shooter AND the BPA who can be their best playmaker.

Only things assured in life are death, taxes, and the modern 76ers failing at the draft.

Unlikely
1) Philly is the 4th largest market in the US and is historically a top 5-10 NBA franchise so it's not like he's going to Sacramento, Milwaukee, or Utah.
2) Simmons has too many connections to the management/coaches in Philly to pull something like that.
3) He'd have the ball in his hands from day 1 instead of having to share the ball with Russell and Clarkson.
4) Philly has arguably better developing talent on the roster in Okafor, Embiid, Noel, Saric than LA does with Russell, Clarkson, and Randle.
5) It would be really bad for his image to start complaining before he's even put on an NBA uniform, especially when no other top players have done anything like this since Kobe in 1996. This would likely result in him losing millions of dollars in endorsements.
6) If he loves LA so much, he can buy a summer home there like many other players do and spend the offseason there. Not being in LA 24/7 shouldn't really be a big deal and it's not like the Lakers are going to be competing for a championship anytime soon.

Didn't Steve Francis pull something like this back in '99?

I certainly hope so. Most polls on Lakers sites before and after the lotto was that the fans preferred Ingram over Simmons.

Kobe only said he wouldn't play for them after the trade was made with the Hornets behind closed doors. The Hornets had no idea who they were drafting and said they were never going to keep the pick. When the Hornets coach asked for Kobe to come in because he wanted to see what Jerry West was so excited about, the Lakers were afraid if he saw Kobe they would back out on their deal, so they told Kobe to keep away from the Hornets any way he could till they could finally finalize the trade. Kobe's agent tried to convince the Nets not to draft him but the Net's FO didn't care, they were still going to draft him anyways. It was their new coach that vetoed that because he didn't think he had time to develop Kobe.
Kobe didn't end up choosing where he was going to be drafted. Nets passed for their own reasons and the Hornets traded the pick in a handshake agreement before the draft.

The bold above is false.
Kobe'a camp sent out the memo that he wanted to play for the Lakers and would only sign with them. Also the threat of him playing in Italy if he was chosen by another team other than the Lakers. That's called "choosing/demanding where you play"
Calipari and the Nets wanted to draft Kobe (because Cal saw his workout) but was told he would not sign.
It had nothing to do with "Cal not having the time to develop Kobe." If that were the case they would have wanted to draft the more experienced SG Kittles all along, instead of Kobe.
Simmons never denied being drafted by philly. I don't know why fans are running with this crap. He's a laker fan so as a childhood fan who wouldn't want to play for them? Doesn't mean he rejects the idea of being a sixer or will force his way to LA. Fans always want soap opera drama. And don't feed me no crap about his camp said he wants LA for more endorsement deals. About as silly as Bron going to NY because his endorsements triple on worth and he wants to be a billionaire.

He could have won more NBA MVP Award if he play for the Hornets, but Kobe wanted to play for the Lakers in his rookie season
He wanted the easiest way that costs him several MVP Award, and gained him 3 sidekick rings.

Either way LAL wins. If Sixers draft Simmons, Simmons will just sign to LAL as soon as his rookie contract runs out. Meanwhile we got Ingram.:lol
LAL stays winning

Only way this is happening if LA swaps pick plus another draft pick in one of the next few drafts. I think LA is more desperate to get Simmons.
But if the Sixers keep the pick then Simmons is a Sixer. Funny thing is Sixers can use the Lakers next year pick and draft the Ingram clone in Jonathan Isaac. Lol
