View Full Version : Report: Tyronn Lue told LeBron James to 'shut the f

Per the report:

By letting James overwhelm him in the huddle during timeouts, Blatt unwittingly ceded control — and demoralized the rest of the team. By not being comfortable enough to rein in James, the dynamic of the team became one of LeBron and then everybody else. "They felt they were doing this for LeBron," the person familiar with the internal workings of the team said, "instead of with LeBron." Lue changed that the moment he first told James in a huddle, "Shut the [expletive up]. I got this," according to a person who heard the exchange -- and a few others like it. If Lue was going to get the stars and the role players to buy into the strategic changes he was determined to implement — play faster, space the floor, move the ball, take full advantage of Love's versatility — he was going to have to restore order first.

Lue's ability to control James appears to have made quite the difference. The Cavs swept their first two opponents in the postseason and had a dominating win over the Raptors in Game 1 Tuesday night.

Props to Coach Lue if this is true because this is exactly what needed to be done. It was obviously apparent that Blatt conceded control to Lue and more-so LeBron during timeouts. It undermines the players, it undermines the coach itself and it makes the team overall not trust in the process of being a team when everyone isn't held accountable.

Lue will be fired either sometime shortly after the Finals, or Lebron may throw his ass out during the Finals.

Coaches should have ultimate power tbh. They know their players full potential. They should have way more power, management type power.

This is what Lebron needs though. The less power he has over the team, the better he and the team will be.

It's not about power, it's about him involving himself in facets of the game that he doesn't need and shouldn't worry about it. I think that's partly why his load so far in these playoffs is so low and everyone is flourishing becuase he doesn't have to worry about every X and O and Lue has it down. He's trusting the process. The ultimate test will be in the Finals if the Cavs make it about trust each other when times get hard.

Yahoo sports have some agenda on Lebron, last year after finals they had article how he disrespects blatt. It was flat out attack on lebron. It seems like they are backtracking, cause they feel threatened lebron wins the title this year.

rest assured, if cavs dont win the title.. you will see yahoo sports back writing articles how lebron is one coaching and not lue.

He's his head coach. :oldlol:

You are acting like this happened in a McDonald's parking lot somewhere. If it happened, it would actually be great news for everyone involved from Dan Gilbert to the last guy on the bench. If Ty feels in-control of the team enough to publicly chastise LeBron James, he's doing a hell of a job.

He was not viewed as a scrub. He was viewed as a quality backup and was well liked around the league.

I remember back in the 04/05 season he was starting in atlanta. They were the worst team in the league and might have been one of the worst of all time if it wasn't for Lue going off.

In 3 of their 13 wins Lue averaged 28 ppg shooting 73% from the field and 20-21 from the foul line.

http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?id=250409001

He also played a big role in getting Garnett to go to Boston. When KG expressed reservations about the city Lue said "what difference does it make? You never leave the house anyway." :lol

Has Lebron succumbed to playing Tyronn Lue basketball? Lebron basketball has brought him all the way to where he is today with two rings. Is Lebron going to let Tyronn Lue just come in, walk all over him? Tyronn needs to know who the real King is around Cleveland.

Deep down one has to wonder how this incident is impacting Lebron and the Cavs performance in the Finals. When Tyronn Lue comes in and just degrades Lebron in front of the entire Cavs roster, that just ruins the team chemistry. And if not then, it eventually rears its ugly head. Lue barely started coaching the Cavs and he puts Lebron in his place :applause:

Well no, to better men this enforces humility and motivation in a leader.

The problem with Lebron is, he's a big baby in a man's body.

In the day, the leaders respected their coaches for calling the best player and leader out. It shows to all the other players that he is no better than every other guy on the team and is held just as accountable.

I'll be happy when Lebron retires. I've seen his habits and attitude creep into other players in the league.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but in the grand scheme of things, is LBJ really that bad?

I mean it could be worse, what happens if in 10 years time we get a new freak.

Averages 38/10/8, easily 5+ MVP and in GOAT talks, has been let off on rape charges and drink driving manslaughter, spams his social media with evil stuff condoning terrorism and straight up trash talks and tells everyone off. plays dirty like Karl Malone etc etc.

LBJ is just a douche who hosted a stupid decision show.

Same reason why I like curry. Im just hoping we never get a really bad person type goat level player.

Lebron tried to walk over Draymond Green the same way AI did over Tyronn Lue. It calls into question whether the incident with Tyronn Lue reportedly telling Lebron to shut the f up in front of the entire Cavs team is an underlying cause for Lebron's frustrations. It would be the first time Lebron James was put into his place by his own coach.

Yeah, I've always heard that Lue and KG were very close friends and Garnett respects Lue maybe more than anyone affiliated with the league. That tells you all you need to know about his cache within NBA circles.

Lue was mentored as a coach by Jerry West, Phil Jackson and Doc Rivers.

Labeling him a "scrub" as if he shouldn't be taken seriously is asinine.

Everyone remembers AI stepping over him. That's all they recall from Ty Lue's career.

But, even if you look back at that game... the only reason the Lakers were close was because Lue nearly shut down Iverson starting late in the 3rd quarter when he had previously been having one of his best games ever.

Here is a video displaying his defensive intensity going against one of the greatest pure scorers of his generation in his prime...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSYFUoVFjgo

But, yeah... obviously he's a scrub.
