Yes but you aren't going to get someone like PG with Clarkson and table scraps from Indiana. Chances are it would be more like the Lakers pick, PLUS Clarkson and some other misc pieces for Paul George. And if I'm the lakers I just keep the pick.

:biggums: Not even close unless you're talking about current past his prime Monta. A double double is nice but his defense is poor so far and his jump shot is non-existent besides a few stretches of games. A power forward who cant even make a catch and shoot midrange jumper is going have a tough time in the league today.

Lakers hats should all be dunce cap shaped.

Clarkson and Young are free agents. Who knows if any team in the league is going to sign Young. Clarkson is probably going to resign at a salary well above his actual value as one of the worst defenders in the NBA.

The Lakers still owe a top 3 protected pick next year so cannot trade a 1st for the next three years (cannot trade a 1st two straight years).

So you are talking about trading a negative value Clarkson, a 2020 1st rd pick, and a guy who wouldn't make the Pacers for PG13. Dunce cap quality idea.

The only way you could get PG13 is by trading Russell AND Ingram for him. There aren't any other assets there.

Randle is essentially a rookie. He can work on his jumpshot. His potential is a Lamar Odom/Zach Randolph hybrid. A double double machine with good ball handling skills and passing ability. Luke Walton will probably use him like Draymond Green who isn't a good shooter.

At the very worst, you get Clarkson on a decent deal. There is nothing bad about his re-signing.

D'Angelo has star potential
Ingram has star potential
Clarkson has 6th man potential
Larry Nance is super solid role player
and Randle averaged a DOUBLE DOUBLE in his rookie season.

Randle was showing his playmaking abilities in the preseason games for the most part. Byron Scott didn't let him play the way he was most comfortable playing. There was a game late in the regular season when he had a triple double showing his playmaking ability. You must have missed that game.

Nick Young is owed >5m next year and has a TO for >5m the following year. I'd make a large wager whatever team owns his rights declines the option. Which means he is a negative value contract.

Clarkson can still sign a deal for up to about 4/68. You aren't protected from ####.

No one is giving you anything for a 2020 pick. You could get and KD and RWB by then. The EV for that is probably a #20 pick. You couldn't get George Hill for that package.

How far does this team go in the West?

I just don't see Larry Bird, helping the Lakers by giving his future HOF/superstar for 1 good player , an underachiever and a few unkowns. It's almost like exchanging your prized Mcclaren for a G37, and a couple of Honda Accords.
Bird would rather help his old team Boston in exchange for Bradley and several picks or go to the Sixers and their horde of young players.

Man these laker fans are funny Julius Randle is horrible, he shoots like 40% from the floor and what kind of big man gets you 29 blocks in 81 games and he had alot of playing time.
All you got to do is avg 5ppg in over 20mpg on a 17 win team like larry nance for these laker clowns to call you the future.

even if that trade went through that roster is still a few years away from contending.
Russell would need to develop into a top 5 PG
Ingram would need to develop into an all star

and they would still need a more dependable Big than Randle/Whiteside.

I hope yall don't take that as a knock on the Lakers but just compare that team to GSW, OKC and Cle and i don't see how they make a leap to that level.

I agree that Russell and Ingram/Simmons would have to reach their potential.

However, Randle and Whiteside are pretty dependable already. Both are double double threats every night. They might pair up to be the best rebounding frontcourt in the league. Offensively they would need some work, but defense is what will win championships.

It won't happen in one season ala 2007-08 Celtics, but once that lineup gains chemistry, they could be a dangerous team (think poor man's Golden State + a young Lebron or KD)

Randle is a big who contributes NO help at the rim, and is a HUGE net negative defensively. He can't shoot or space the offense.

He was DEAD LAST in ESPNs real +/- for PF if you remove everyone under 1100 minutes played.

He is a poor mans Brandon Bass.

He wouldn't even be in the rotation for any team currently playing (unless Tor wanted to give him backup C minutes). He is a career backup.

FWIW, Russell and Ingram are both nice prospects.

Randle averaged a double double in his rookie season as one of the NBA's best defensive rebounders. Pacers are not going to agree to that dumpster fire of a trade proposal unless you're playing NBA 2K with Trade Overrides enabled. George is a star/borderline superstar. Clarkson is above-average but nothing special. Nick Young is trash. Anthony Brown is nobody. A future 1st round pick means little right now without knowing how the Lakers will turn out.

The Lakers need to get George, even if it means giving up this year's 2nd pick. They also need to dump D'Bustaslow ASAP, so if that means throwing him in the trade for George, you do it in a second and don't look back.

George would be great for LA because he's from California and is a big Kobe fan, but he's a star so it's going to take a lot to get him from Indy. That "blockbuster trade deal" in the OP is a joke and wouldn't even net them George Hill.

I agree with half of the second sentence. D'Bustaslow is a scrub and one of the worst draft blunders in NBA history. Randle showed lots of potential in what was essential his rookie season. He's way, way overrated by "Lakers fans" on here, but I still think he will be pretty good.

If you can even get the Pacers thinking about a 2nd Pick + D'Bustaslow + whatever deal for PG13, you do that in an instant if you're Mitch and don't even think twice.

When was the last time a superstar was traded and his former team received another superstar in return??

Do you not follow the nba, Shaq was traded for Lamar Odom, Iverson was traded for Andre Miller..

When teams trade superstars they usually don't have much leverage and are looking to rebuild with picks

These type of trades happen all the time in the draft. Look at the 08 Celtics, they gave up Al Jefferson and Jeff Green for KG & Ray Allen

I don't think Larry Bird want's to rebuild around Randle. They parted ways with Vogel because Vogel didn't want to play Paul George at PF as much as Bird did and now they are going to bring in a PF who can't shoot? I don't see it. Also George is an elite defender and arguably top 3 2-way player in the league.

Blockbuster trade idea:
Lakers send: Jordan Clarkson, Nick Young, Anthony Brown, future 1st round pick
Lakers receive: Paul George from Indiana Pacers

Lakers sign Whiteside, Batum and Noah via free agency, draft Ingram and Valentine

Lakers
PG: D'Angelo Russell | Marcelo Huertas
SG: Paul George | Lou Williams
SF: Brandon Ingram | Nicolas Batum | Denzel Valentine
PF: Julius Randle | Larry Nance Jr
C: Hassan Whiteside | Joakim Noah | Tarik Black

Coach: Luke Walton running GS like offense

How far does this team go in the West?
If Pacers are trading PG to Lakers, Bird is going to demand this year's first, Randle and Russell....and Ellis would be moved with PG

Monta Ellis has an awful contract. If Pacers want to include Monta, Pacers would need to take on Lou Williams too

Clarkson, Williams, Young, Brown future 1st for George, Ellis

Ya, doubt that's going to happen

Without Russell, Randle and this year's first rounder, there's no reason to trade PG

Pacers need to be in rebuild mode. They almost missed the playoffs last season. Going from Vogul to McMillan is a downgrade. Lakers can provide them a good package of young players (Clarkson, Young, Brown) and future 1st round picks to ease their rebuild process. Let Paul George join a winning organization ala KG when they traded him after his long years dedicated to a losing team.

Winning organization?

Players don't care about the past, they care about the now. No good free agent is going to sign with the Lakers when their roster hasn't proven shit

Gordan Hayward Al Horford and Derrick Favors

Reports around Jazzland is that Utah really likes either Simmons or Ingram (no one outside the organization knows which one though) and is apparently shopping Hayward and the #12 to get the necessary pick.

LA would be hard pressed to get both Favors and Hayward, though. The only thing the Lakers have that Utah wants is the #2, and you don't give up both those guys to get it. Neither are FAs this year either.

I really love our potential 1-4 in Russell, DeRozan (he's signing with us and Lakers fan you know this), Ingram and Randle. The big question is who will be our 5.

With this line up, we have size because our 1 and 3 are taller/longer than others at their position. We have some athleticism. We have shooting. Defense seems a tad weak but that is why we need a rim protecting big. We have iso scoring ability from 2 guys.

The big question is Ingram and how good he can be. He is a iso scorer at heart. Can he become a superstar? Because we aren't winning it all if Derozan is our best player. In a perfect world, Ingram is "the man", Derozan 2nd fiddle and probably Randle 3rd wheel with Russell providing strong shooting and passing.

Absolutely LOVE Black as our first big off the bench. Nance and Lou can round out our 8 man roster.

Lakers hats should all be dunce cap shaped.

So many great players and great situations have fallen into the franchise lap that I don't even think their fans have even learned how to properly evaluate players. Or maybe because so many things have worked out in the past that they think ANYTHING can...I dunno, but I don't understand how anyone can think you are doing anything anytime soon with these players they have. I don't know what Laker fans don't understand about Russell, Clarkson, and Randle all being atrocious defenders...the Lakers were last in defense for a reason. You'd need like David Robinson or Hakeem Olajuwon defensively to build around these guys. Randle can be a good 4th or 5th player a contender and I Think Russell can develop into an all star...but Clarkson is complete garbage...garbage that ballsout thinks you can couple with other garbage and get a top 10 player for.

We are going to add Derozan and Ingram. Derozan is already a proven all star who is entering his prime and his ceiling is still higher than what he's given. Ingram has superstar potential. Those are 2 great pieces we didn't have.

If it was just Russell, Clarkson and Randle, I wouldn't be excited either. But we'll also add a 5 either via trade or FA. This team has a chance to be good quickly, all depending on how good Ingram is. And I don't think I'm being a homer either.

Better hope Demar stays in Toronto because that amount of chucking between them might surpass Kobes bad nights.

PG isn't going west.
Clarkson as a 6th isn't getting you places.
Julius Randle is ok... he's not special and never will be, his ceiling is an over achieving Kris Humphries
Nance is very solid role player? He's an 8th man at best
