Also says LeBron better all around player.
"Naismith Hall of Famer Gary Payton says the fact Stephen Curry's MVP was the first via unanimous vote might be more a reflection of the times than his dominance relative to other MVPs.
Payton, speaking in interviews with Sports Illustrated Now and SiriusXM, said Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar were also worthy of the distinction and that the Curry vote was "about era."
"I think all of those guys were unanimous decisions, too," said Payton, inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013. "It just happened in an era that went his way."
"If you look at LeBron, what he does for his team, he does everything," Payton told SiriusXM, according to the Bay Area News Group. "I still think he's the best all-around basketball player. As we say, Stephen Curry was the best player this year but I'm saying all-around -- who gives you assists, who gives you rebounding, who gives you points, who does a lot of things for his team to have it? If you take LeBron off that team, I don't think Cleveland is a good team like that. If you Curry off of it, uh, right now I don't know. They probably would win games. They wouldn't have won 73, but they would win a lot of basketball games."

It's true. It's not to say LeBron is better than Curry becuase he's not. But the way the Cavs team is built LeBron is their engine that gets them going and sets everyone else up. Curry isn't that same type of part for Golden State.

UPDATE:
Recently Payton was asked about this interview and then asked about Curry recruiting KD throughout the 2016 season. He gave the same answer that most people did.
"How much help does Curry need!?!!?!?"

op with lebron's dick all up in his mouth like usual, but payton's right - at least in this year's playoffs.

Kind of a no-brainer even before the Finals. Obviously Lebron is a better and more versatile 2-way talent.

The same could be said of Durant at this point. He's got the 2nd best PG, a duo of quality mobile bigmen built to defend the pick and rolls that stymied Curry much of that series, 'had' Ibaka. He didn't need someone of Curry's magnitude to win, someone like a Mike Conley at the point, moving Westbrook to the 2 would have put this team over the top.

Are Warriors to blame for trying to make the best team possible? Its KD who's at fault here

In regards to Payton's statement it sounds like he still agrees with Curry's MVP due to its relevance to era. But I agree Lebron's value to a team is much greater. It's been a proven theory as ever team he's left had immense failure and every team he's joined has tremendous success.
In terms of team impact Lebron is up there with Shaq.

Anyone who ever thought Curry was the best player in the league needs to stop watching basketball and were truly prisoners of the moment.
LeBron has ALWAYS been the best in the world. Even during the highest peak of the Curry cocksucking fest.
The best player in the world:
Shows up in the finals - Check
Plays both ends of the court - Check
Has dominated the league for over a decade - Check
Is easily the best player on his team - Check
Elite all around - Check
LeBron Raymone James. Check.

i don't think there's anything wrong with someone thinking curry was the best player in the league by the end of the season. the playoffs was a completely diff story though
