View Full Version : Best core to never win a championship for the 90's and 00's?

Teams like the 06 Pistons wouldn't count since that main core won a title already. I'm going go early 90's Blazers and early 00's Kings.

I'm gonna go with Stockton/Malone/Hornacek. (Arguably) 2nd GOAT Point-Guard, 2nd GOAT Power-Forward, fantastic sharp-shooter in Hornacek and a HOF coach in Jerry Sloan, that team had everything except a title.

that's the choice i expected most people to say along with the sonics. Pretty hard to argue against.

Very true, although I think you could make a very compelling argument for the 02' Kings as being the best non-title team in recent memory. They were clearly better than the dynastic Lakers, however one bad bounce and one bad reffing game screwed them over. I'm not so much into early 2000's NBA, but that Blazers team in 2000 I heard was pretty good as well

Obvious and correct answer. The 2000 Portland team was pretty bad ass too. If they hadn't blown a 15 point lead with 10 minutes to go in the 4th or Kobe hadn't blocked 7'2 Sabonis' game tying shot, they would have advanced and stomped Reggie Miller's Pacers for the chip.

Thunder would count as 10's right? Kind of why I didn't ask for 10's since the Thunder are the obvious top choice with HM for the Clippers.

1993 and 1994 Sonics. The window was there for them, especially in 1994.

If you consider Dirk, Stackhouse, Josh Howard and Jason Terry as a good core.
